The location and staff are amazing. The facilities are nice. The breakfast is delicious...as is all the food in the restaurant. The rooms are sizable, but don't have central air - so your relying on the wonderful air from outside to freshen things or cool the room (in the summer that can be tough). The bathrooms could use some re-design, but what they lack in beauty they make up for in function.

A big hotel with a good feel about it, there’s nothing within walking distance the restaurant is good but not for any one on a budget. The single rooms are a little basic but comfortable and functional and no air con. Staff were very helpful and motorbikes get premium parking right outside reception in very secure courtyard.

Very nice Hotel and friendly staff. A extraprdinary view all over the Rhine valley just from the breakfast table. The Hotel was bulit and owned by Hans Riegel. Mr. Riegel was the founder of HARIBO.

4/10 Fair

Golf hotel with no golf.
We picked the hotel for the golf, but then could not use the course because we were not members, so there was no point being there. The room is well furnished and decorated, but a very sterile and modern design for such a lovely historic building - out of place. Also, the shower is over a high and very narrow bath - not comfortable to get in and out. Breakfast is good and varied, with lovely views, but service is poor - the staff are unattentive (always standing around chatting) and items are not quickly provided or replenished. We waited a while for coffee and cutlery after arriving, and were the only table not to receive a Lindt chocolate gift (the waitress even asked us if we wanted one, which we accepted with thanks, and then never brought it!). Lack of attention to detail.

Unusual hotel above the Rhine.
This hotel is the strangest German hotel I have ever stayed in. The best thing about the hotel is the great view of the Rhine from the restaurant. The bedroom did not have a view though. However it was very spacious and modern, and had high quality bedding, but the bathroom was very poorly designed. The shower was over the bath but the bath was too narrow to stand in, and bizarrely the loo roll holder could not be reached from the loo! The strangest part of the hotel though is the corridor which is full of exhibits of stuffed African animals and a lion skin, a bit distasteful in my opinion. There are display cases of other items too, for example antique guns and irons, and lots of African art and sculptures. The hotel has some connection with Haribo so there are free sweets in the bar, but on the negative side we found that the barman didn’t ever fill the measure when he was pouring drinks. So our stay was ok, but I wouldn’t recommend the hotel if you want a traditional German experience. If you are after something a little different, then you might like it!

Overnight stay
Stayed in town for one night. Arrived by car. Nice view of the river, not far from key cities.

Well situated for anybody exploring that region
Unfortunately my husband suffered a rather nasty accident due to a lack of exterior lighting in certain areas. Walking back to the car park to collect overnight baggage it was very dark with no lighting. As a result my husband tumbled over a large rock which was approximately 2 to 3 feet high. He sustained injuries to his right leg and forehead in the form of deep lacerations and a bruised kneecap, and, broke his glasses. We understand that the rock was probably placed there to prevent car parking, however, as we discovered in the daylight the rock was very dark in colour, and, think this accident could have been prevented if the rock could have been painted white, or that area had some form of subdued lighting. I must add that the reaction of the on-duty receptionist was excellent. She assisted us in returning to our room and providing first aid material. Finally, to add insult to injury when we booked out the reception tried to charge for a bottle wine which we did not have. Also we were informed that, although not available at the time, the Hotel Director would contact us by phone the following day. Still waiting.

Nice hotel with spectacular views of the Rhine
Enjoyed our stay, hotel very nice, food in the restaurant was delicious, friendly staff. The only down side was it was a little to remote for us, you definitely need a car to get about. If it is a chill out relaxing break your looking for, this hotel is perfect.

Lovely hotel with great vistas
This hotel is a bit isolated but the views from the restaurant make up for it: younoverlook the river and the town below. The included breakfast is decadent and delicious. Super friendly staff, everything very professional.

Quality hotel with a view
This is a great option if your travels bring you to Boppard or the surrounding area (Koblenz, etc.). The restaurant is great for dinner or for the buffet breakfast. Great views overlooking the Rhine. Bonus if you like Gummi's - the hotel is owned by the family that runs Haribo - so you can get some memorabilia or discount candy! My only gripe is the lack of air conditioning can be punishing in July, August or early September. It makes up for it in charm though. I've stayed in other similar places that include a fan in the room. Might be a good idea here.

Lovely Hotel with Spectacular View
We spent one evening at the hotel during the Boppard wine festival. Though we did not spend much time at the hotel, the facilities were wonderful and we would certainly return for a longer trip. The golf facilities were very close to the hotel and were in pristine condition. We stayed in one of the suites which was pretty much like having your own apartment, less a small kitchen. The bathroom had a sauna, which was wonderful. Our only complaint is that they really should extend their weekend breakfast hours to 11am as we are definitely late sleepers on weekends and ended up missing out on what appeared to be a lovely buffet breakfast.

Beautiful hotel close to Koblenz
This is a great hotel a few minutes outside of Koblenz / Boppard. Great staff, excellent food - amazing surroundings. The place has an affiliation and/or ownership with Haribo...so if gelatinous treats are your thing - they have all varieties at cheaper than grocery store prices.

Up-market golf hotel overlooking the Rhine
We prefer to stay out of town centres, for optimal car parking, and the Jakobsberg is about 9km north of Boppard. It is accessed via a minor, winding road, which may be a little hard to find. The hotel complex is splendid, and well staffed. My wife enjoyed a swim in the excellent pool, and we had a large, quiet room overlooking the rear garden. The is an attractive chapel in the inner courtyard, with some distinctive decorative features. Visitors should make a point of seeing this. There is also a themed Africa corridor with interesting exhibits on display. We dined in Boppard itself, but breakfast at the Jakobsberg was substantial and varied. The price was reasonable for a hotel of this quality. We intend to re-visit when we can.
