4/10 Fair

The cabin is much smaller than depicted by the photos. The cooking facilities was bad - the hot stove was rusty. Toiletries were also lacking.

I was impressed with the kitchen and bathroom upgrades. The house had a cozy feel to it. Reasonable price for the stay as well. I was unable to lock the main door from the inside though. The immediate surroundings were a little odd with a warehouse and an abandoned car (?). it would be good to have a shower door to keep the bathroom floor dry and also have a heater in the bathroom. But the highlight of our stay there was rather serendipitous. We saw a beautiful arctic fox near the house. What a blessing! That was one of the main highlights of our trip to Iceland.

A very small, but adorable and comfortable cabin. I think it could be even better with some rearranging of furniture to better fit into the limited space. Directions and access were superb!

Cabin 3 had lovely views straight out of the front door. It was quiet and peaceful. We were able to see the northern lights quite well. The cabin is the right size for two people with all of the basics. We really enjoyed our nights here.

Small peaceful guesthouse in the country.
Lovely location. Quiet and peaceful. Complete cottage with kitchen but very small. We cooked a nice dinner and breakfast. My only suggestion, for Americans not used to northern summers some darker curtains to keep out the midnight sun would be nice.

We enjoyed our night here. This was a small cabin. It has internet and enjoyed watching the goats and horses next door. It is fairly secluded, which was fine with us. The instructions were perfect and slept well. Would stay here again.

Modest, but special in many wonderful ways
I want to first say that I should have done more research before I arrived at Ravencliff Lodge, because it was remote and we were not prepared with food when we arrived around 19:00 in the evening. To travel for food after a long journey on a dirt and gravel road (Route 54) seemed not worth the trip. So, I will focus on what the experience was rather than what it is not. It was a perfectly peaceful, fun, and quiet stay in a deep green valley bordered by cliffs and a waterfall on the back. It was beautiful! Complete with two Icelandic horses that were not to be petted, but who were close enough to be curious about us and whinny “good evening” and “good morning.” The cabin itself was sparse but immaculate and with good shower. The Wi-Fi was excellent, but we chose to turn it off and be a little “off the grid.” Relative to hotel stays it was bohemian, but relative to camping, it would be luxurious. I say all these things to educate, and not be critical at all. I LOVED IT! Could be perfect if you are in this area of Iceland.

6/10 Good

Beautiful surroundings, and very quiet. Comfortable beds. We stayed two nights, and it was very hot in our room both nights. We kept the window open, but couldn't find a heat source in our room to turn down. The rest of the house was very comfortable temperature-wise, just not our bedroom.

On the plus side, tiny cabin with tiny kitchen and tiny bathroom was on a farm, very clean and quiet. On the minus side, the cabin was next to an unappealing barn, and was difficult to find since I was expecting a more touristy setting. Overall though I liked it.

Cozy farmhouse we stayed in. The only downside is that the bed sheets were not great. It felt like sleeping on sandpaper, they were so worn. Other than that it was perfect for a one night stay as we were headed back to Reykjavik from the Westfjords.

A remote charming place
A relatively isolated location on the side of a hill overlooking a beautiful valley with the site of farms and snowy mountains in the background. Very quiet. We stayed in the main building which has three guest rooms and shared toilet and shower, with a nice guest room and kitchen. Very clean and pleasant. Remote and charming.
