The Golden Roof gleams with its 2,657 copper tiles while colourful burgher houses create the perfect backdrop for your holiday photos. Climb the Stadtturm for jaw-dropping Alpine views or wander through Habsburg grandeur at the Imperial Palace. Traditional Tyrolean gasthauses dish up hearty schnitzel and apfelstrudel alongside artisan shops selling hand-carved woodwork and Alpine crafts. The car-free historic centre makes exploring a breeze, with everything within walking distance. When evening falls, cosy wine bars offer the perfect spot to relax after a day of medieval magic.

Charming boutique guesthouses in converted historic villas offer intimate accommodation away from tourist crowds. Well-connected by city buses and just a 15-minute walk from Hauptbahnhof, Saggen makes a perfect quiet base for exploring Innsbruck.

Hötting

Hötting sits on northern slopes above Innsbruck, treating visitors to jaw-dropping mountain panoramas and authentic Tyrolean charm. The historic Höttinger Parish Church stands proudly with its onion dome, while traditional wooden balconies burst with colourful geraniums. Nature lovers can explore the Botanical Garden or meet alpine animals at the Alpenzoo. The nearby Nordkette Mountains offer hiking trails with spectacular views. Local gasthauses serve hearty Tyrolean fare like schnitzel and spätzle in cosy, family-run settings. Accommodation options include traditional guesthouses and pensions with Alpine-style rooms. Getting around requires some uphill walking, but limited bus connections make the 15-minute journey to Innsbruck's centre fairly simple.

Innsbruck and related destinations

Between soaring Alpine peaks, this medieval city blends Olympic winter sports history with imperial grandeur. The Nordkettenbahn whisks you from cobblestone streets to mountain adventures in minutes. Gaze up at the Golden Roof, where Emperor Maximilian once watched festivities below. The colourful houses along the Inn River create perfect photo opportunities without trying. Explore Tirol Panorama for context before wandering Maria Theresa Street's cafés. In winter, world-class skiing beckons; in summer, the same slopes offer hiking with views that explain why emperors chose this valley. The Alpenzoo showcases mountain wildlife that most zoos can't accommodate. For evening entertainment, the historic centre transforms into a lively scene of outdoor dining and alpine-inspired cocktails.

8/10 Good
"A lovely hotel in a perfect location. It is right in the heart of the city, yet tucked away in an inner courtyard, so it is very peaceful and quiet. The shower was beautiful and exceptionally spacious. The bed was on the firmer side, and the pillows were only reasonably comfortable. At times, however, it felt as though design had taken priority over practicality. The sink was unnecessarily small, which meant that the area around it was constantly wet. There was a small table and an armchair in the room, which looked nice but we never actually used them. The bedside tables, on the other hand, were terrible – unbelievably tiny. We even had to remove the hotel phone and TV remote to make some space, yet my husband’s phone still fell off during the night, as did my glasses. They were simply too small to hold even the most essential items."

"A fantastic hotel for our stop over in Innsbruck. Friendly, welcoming staff and great facilities. My husband went down to get bigger water glasses for the water in the room and the staff member gave him a whole carafe of ice cold water as well. Great service. Perfect location to be out of the busy area but only a short walk into the centre. Such an amazing room, with a huge balcony. We would 100% recommend a stay here."

8/10 Good
"We stayed three nights at the end of July and, on the whole, it is a lovely hotel I would happily recommend. The location is hard to beat, right in the centre of the old town and a few minutes’ walk from everything. The staff were the highlight, unfailingly polite and helpful. One room had a bit of a smell at check-in and they moved my daughter without a quibble, into an upgraded room, for the whole stay. They had also sorted our Welcome Cards digitally before we arrived. Breakfast was very good too, plenty of choice and consistently tasty. A few things for future guests, all meant constructively. The main one is the laundry that appears to be on the top floor. The machines ran from around 7am until mid to late afternoon and on the spin cycle the whole room shook. It was the vibration rather than the noise that was the problem, and my daughter two floors below still felt it. I raised it at checkout so the hotel is aware, but anyone sensitive to that would be wise to ask about room location. One room also had a bath with the plug mechanism disabled so it could not be filled, a disappointment for my son. Storage was tight for a family travelling across Europe with larger cases, and the safe was not anchored and could be lifted straight out, so we did not use it. None of that spoilt an enjoyable stay, and with some attention to the vibration it would be an easy five stars."
