Second time staying at this hotel. Experience this time checking in was a little ruff. Person checking was not very nice about checking in. Also didnt explain why the hotel was more that it was suppose to be.

Great hotel and really great restaurant in house
Great hotel. Location to Xcel was ideal and not a bad walk at all. Overall the stay was excellent we had a king room which was on the small side but well appointed and comfy bed. The highlight was the restaurant in the hotel. The citizen had a really good breakfast and drinks. Service was 10/10 and price was to be expected in a hotel setting but with everything being so good it didn’t seem to bother me. Downtown Saint Paul was a 3/10. Dirty many many streets under construction drug activity witnessed in broad daylight. The farmers market was the only redeeming thing about it we had a good time there. Stay around the xcel and down 7 th street to feel “safe” hotel can’t help any of this so the stay 10/10 but the area just a couple of blocks to the east is not good.

One of the beds had dirty sheets. And the service at the restaurant was terrible. Ordered my food and they took away the menu. Then I left to use the restroom and came back and they had taken my food away when I wasn’t done eating. I ordered the steak and eggs and the steak was burnt on the outside and completely raw on the inside. I had to wait 45 minutes for the waitress to come back and help me which by that time it was too late for me to order another breakfast item. The restaurant I highly don’t recommend however the hotel it self was pleasant.

Big hotel with very comfortable beds. Seems to be an older building with efforts made to update it. Elevators can be slow when the hotel is full and they were not lenient about allowing a late check out. But the hotel and the staff for the most part were very nice.
