A bit on the pricier side, but the Village has all you need for a self-sustained vacation if you don't intend on going many places on your own. Great beach, lagoon and pool (although at times crowded) and lots of activities and shopping.

Experience soured by poor management
We'd booked to stay at the Hilton Hawaiian Village at the very end of our big honeymoon trip - we'd paid for a slightly nicer room with a bay view for a little bit of luxury. What we ended up walking into was a strike organised by hundreds of workers, a room with decor that had seen slightly better days, an incredibly long and chaotic check-in line and a hotel which clearly didn't value its guests, let alone its employees. We were only staying a couple of nights, so we weren't fussed about the lack of in-room services, like making the bed or fresh towels and while the view was absolutely stunning from halfway up the Rainbow Tower, the constant chanting through megaphones from the strike from 8am to 10pm, the fact that there were no food or drink places open and that we had to still pay the resort fee (for what?) soured the experience. Now I'm not blaming the workers at all, the attitude from Hilton was appalling. No apology, no forewarning, nothing complementary, no money off - we'd paid a lot of money for our last few nights and we were let down. I can't imagine how other guests felt who were staying for longer, or those who had weddings booked. As I understood from other reviews, this strike went on for weeks - I can't believe the Hilton let that happen for so long. I can only hope the workers got a good deal from the hotel eventually, or they all went to work somewhere that treated them fairly.
