Catalina Island is a unique place. Since the island is largely privately owned, development is concentrated in the town of Avalon. It's a fine getaway for couples, families, and weddings. Take any opportunity to meet locals; their stories are great!

We were there in the slow season. Highly recommend. Make sure to go to visit the Casino (not a gambling venue!). The architecture and history is awe inspiring. If there is a movie playing, try to go. It is a different experience.

Avalon is a real gem. We love that there are no corporations at all so everything is botique or independent. The food is excellent and affordable too. There's much to do on the island so staying more than 1 night is a must.

Scenic & walkable, plenty of restaurants & a unique history. Consider the bus tour of the town & the tours of the wilder parts of the island.

My 1st time there it was so fun. They have an island uber called circuit which was fantastic because im not the best with hills. All the restaurants were delicious and customer service was fantastic. We did an interior tour of the island so fun.

We weren't able to find trails which I'd assumed would be easily accessible. Go directly to the Conservancy tour office to get a hiking permit, cheaper transport to the trails, and maps. The Eco Tour was really informative, just very expensive.

Wonderful time of the year to visit. Cool temps and not very busy, not crowded and relaxed. Shops are nice and a lot of dining options. We really enjoyed the Casino and doing a fun ghost tour.

Definitely my happy place! A great place to recharge and enjoy the calmness in paradise. Everyone here on this Island was extremely friendly
"Hotel and room experience were great! Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Room cleanliness and appearance was nice and appealing. Love that it provides a shuttle to the two popular spots. Even the drivers were really helpful and friendly. 15 minute walk to the plaza area, which is like your downtown area. Easier to walk to the plaza than it is to come back due to it being up hill! Highly recommend this hotel and would stay here again."
"Exactly as advertised! Checkin was a short walk from the pier. You could get a taxi but we walked 10 minutes to see the shops and sights.
There is construction of a new home or building next to the hotel during the day. Currently they are removing soil and preparing the foundation. It will be interesting to see if they block the view of the hotel that is comparable to other hotels that are twice the price. "
"Aurora Hotel is a great place to stay. Very clean and neat. Rooms were awesome and I literally had no complaints. Will recommend if you’re planing to come down to Catalina Island. 2 thumbs up 👍👍"
