Vienna and related destinations

Waltz through imperial grandeur at Schönbrunn Palace, where Habsburg opulence unfolds in room after gilded room. The Vienna State Opera hosts world-class performances in a building almost as dramatic as the productions themselves. Christmas markets transform Rathausplatz into a wonderland of lights and glühwein each winter. The Hofburg Imperial Palace complex houses enough museums and treasures to fill several days of exploration. Music lovers shouldn't miss the House of Music Museum, where interactive exhibits let you conduct a virtual orchestra. Between cathedral visits and museum hopping, pause at pavement cafés where the art of people-watching reaches its refined peak.

Novotel Wien Hauptbahnhof

Novotel Wien Hauptbahnhof

8/10 Good
"i like most is the bar staff they are willing to accomodate in providing ice as requested specially during a hot weather outside. It would be ideal to have ice bucket in the room though. The room is clean, although the room is a little small and the bed is also small but comfortable enough, the housekeeping staff were nice and polite. The location was perfect because it is close to the train station, a lot food choices and convenience store at the train station especially if your on a budget."

Le Méridien Wien

Le Méridien Wien

10/10 Excellent
"Le Méridien Vienna is located within striking distance of all major sites. It has easy access to the tram network and the subway making travel easy. The hotel staff was excellent. Always friendly and helpful. The hotel was kept clean and there was no noise from other travelers. There are no language barriers for English speakers as all personnel is able to communicate in English. Because of its location just outside the "main drag" foot traffic was low which is important during the summer months when millions (more) of people visit the city. My wife and I appreciated the availability of the ground level coffee (you bar) bar but did not use the restaurant. This stay was our first stay at this hotel. We initially chose it because of its location, the proximity to in-town travel, for easy walking without having to rent a car, the availability of nearby restaurants, bakeries and grocery stores and the availability of air conditioning. Vienna had an unusually hot summer this year. Despite the availability of air conditioning in our room, it was a bit sticky at night which was due to the unfortunate placement of the air condition vents (cold air not blowing toward the bed). This architectural issue, of course, will not keep us from choosing this hotel again. Thank you, Le Méridien staff, for making out stay pleasant and for the excellent service you provided."

4 tips for savvy savings when booking a hotel in Vienna

  1. Book for the cheapest times: The most affordable time to visit Vienna is from January to March, when hotel prices tend to be lower. For those on a budget, a stay of at least 3 to 4 days is ideal for discovering the city's remarkable landmarks and cultural gems. During this time, you can explore a wealth of historical attractions, including grand museums, stunning architecture, majestic cathedrals, and impressive castles. This period offers great value for money, allowing you to soak in Vienna's rich history and vibrant arts scene without breaking the bank.
  2. Look for last-minute deals on Hotels.com: To explore last-minute deals to Vienna, begin by checking the DealsOpens in a new window or Last-Minute Deals sections on Hotels.com, where you may discover discounted hotel rates as your travel date approaches. Consider enabling email alerts or push notifications from Hotels.com to stay informed about flash sales and special promotions, ensuring you're more likely to seize opportunities for savings. Additionally, the Smart Shopping tool, available via the app, allows you to compare hotel prices and amenities, so you can be notified if room availability changes or prices drop, making your last-minute getaway easier to book.
  3. Be flexible with dates: Prices may vary depending on factors such as the hotel's location, star rating, and time of year, so being flexible with your dates might help you save on your stay in Vienna. For those seeking distinctive experiences, boutique hotels can provide a more personalised service and sometimes offer better value. When you book with Hotels.com, we will inform you if the price for your chosen dates is above or below the average; if it is higher, we may suggest more affordable dates to help you potentially secure a more attractive rate.
  4. Consider your location: Hotels situated near the city centre usually tend to be more expensive; however, with Vienna's outstanding public transport connections, you may discover a more affordable independent hotel located further afield that remains well-connected. For those eager to explore alternative, less crowded neighbourhoods or even lesser-known nearby towns, there is often excellent value for money to be found. Opting for these alternative destinations could provide a more authentic and budget-friendly experience.
