"We kind of a had a Transformer's experience with the Belmont - it was more than meets the eye. Upon arriving at the hotel, we got stuck behind a drug bust in the alley. While waiting to check-in, there was an unhoused person in the lobby being asked to leave. My husband wasn't thrilled about the hotel location, but the issues quickly resolved. The hotel is well-maintained, and the room was excellent: good size for a family of four, clean, well-decorated, and the choices for accommodations were all high quality (bed, bathroom fixtures, mini-fridge). We were on the 5th floor and just took the stairs for everything. If you can ignore some of the issues that come with being in the Entertainment District (drug use, open bottles, late night music, crowds), I think this is a fantastic oasis. The location was also perfect for walking to the BC Place arena, shopping, and eating. Parking was half a block away, but we didn't mind as it was gated and very safe."

You can tell they take pride in maintaining the property as my room was immaculate, well-maintained, and noticeably clean throughout my stay. "The staff were very friendly. Although an older hotel, it was very clean. Thin windows meant street noise was very audible. Being downtown meant noisy streets were no surprise. The only issue we faced was on a very warm day, we returned to our room in the evening to discover that air conditioning for the whole building was seasonally turned off. We had set our room thermostat at a comfortable level before going out but didn't know the AC wouldn't actually work. The room was 28C when we returned because the unit was only circulating air and not cooling it. When I asked the front desk about it, it was only then that I was advised of the seasonal shutdown. Opening the windows and letting the fan blow was our only alternative. Sadly it didn't drop below 25C all night."
