Rooms are clean and spacious. The lounge area was a nice chill out area. The hotel also hosted activities such as Yoga and cooking classes, which was a lot of fun.

Overpriced with lousy breakfast buffet
When you pay hundreds of $$ for a hotel room, you’d expect a decent breakfast at least. Well, they have slices of baguette, hard boiled eggs and ham. This is the most overpriced hotel we’ve stayed at in a long time.

Exceptional 10.0
The hotel was in a good quiet location close to shopping, the market etc. We experienced the buffet that was located around the corner at a sister hotel which was more traditional Japanese fare ( excellent) although the continental breakfast offered at our location probably would have been adequate too. Everything was very comfortable. The only negative for me ( and it wasn’t a big deal at all) is the window too large to actually open and is frosted glass so you can’t see out. Overall staff is friendly speaking enough English and very accommodating. Wi-Fi was very good in the room.

Good 6.0
Clever concept given the lack of large hotels in Kyoto. Room extremely new and clean, but basic - and felt very ‘Ikea’ - plus no safe which was an unhelpful omission. Not at all luxurious despite being (misleadingly) a member of Small Luxury Hotels. Breakfast was of good quality, but staff seemed inexperienced and I imagine travellers would prefer more usual fare than the Spanish pinxtos concept. Staff seemed quite inexperienced and not proactively helpful. Overall felt a lot more like a budget hotel than I had expected, which was disappointing. Top marks for location however!
