Being a seasoned traveller there comes a time when I have to write a bad review and here are the reasons why you shouldn't stay at the SOHO.
1) The staff at check-in asked intrusive questions like whether there would be a second guest staying and what their details were. So, if you're single like me and dating, then the whole experience becomes awkward. How on earth do you ask your date to fill out a form? I had paid for a room that accommodates 2 guests and it's nobody's business who my second guest is. This has never happened to me before and it felt like I was in a prison asking for permission for conjugal visits.
2) I was asked for a credit card and a holding deposit of $200. Credit card information is taken in case there is any damage caused to the property and the hotel has to charge for those damages. I have never been charged an upfront bond. The lady at the counter said that this was in their T's and C's and we did find it on Wotif (the platform I use for my stays). Had I known, I would never have booked at the SOHO in the first place.
3) The room is very basic and relatively small and there is not a lot of room for one person, let alone, two. The toilet did not flush on the first, second or third go and I quickly realised that you had to pump the flush several times to get it going. Weird.
4) My room was made without requesting room service. All my personal items were left out (condoms, viagra). I would have put these away had I known it was going to be cleaned.
