Pretty nice!
Overall a nice place in a great location! Corridors are a little creepy and the elevator is tiny but it’s a small hotel so not a problem! Did get woken up by a cleaner/staff banging on the door at 10am without requesting a wake up call but room was clean, modern and safe!

Good price only in weekdays. TOO EXPENSIVE for weekend days for that kind of conditions and no elevator for 5th and 6th floor.

Value for money. Don't expect a 5 star room if you pay for just a couple of stars. For us it was clean and we just use it one night to sleep (family with three kids) when visiting the nice Christmas markets, which are all on walking distance.

We couldn’t even get our room, they claimed we were in room 999, our access code didn’t work but another guest let us in, there wasn’t a room 999. We called over and over, the man who answered admitted they were overbooked, couldn’t put us in another room, and kept claiming he was contacting someone to come help us. We waited outside in the street for 4 hours with my three kids, no one showed up. We live about 5 hours away so we drove home, but we are out the money it took to get there, they haven’t refunded us, and we had to cancel our trip.

A few issues!
We booked an apartment, which is in fact about 5-10 mins walk from the actual hotel, very near the cathedral. The entrance is behind a metal gate leading to the store room of a mini-supermarket. There is no sign saying "Dom Hotel Am Römerbrunnen Apartments" that is visible from the street. There is just a small sign saying Apartments on a wall behind the metal gate but no name on it. It took several minutes to find the way in. The apartment itself was large, warm and clean, with 4 single beds in a large seating area, a bedroom for one, a dining area a well-equipped kitchen, a toilet and a shower. The shower is in the entrance hall, with just a curtain for privacy - it has no lockable door! We had breakfast in the hotel on one morning, for which we paid on check-in. At the time we had not been told we would be staying 5-10 minutes away. Two of our party (in their 70s) felt it was too far to walk so I rang reception to request a refund of their breakfasts, but was told this was not possible. The breakfast was not bad - freshly baked croissants, tea, coffee and juice. On our final morning, we left before 8am to find the metal gate locked from the outside. Our key would not turn the lock from the inside, and an employee of the mini-supermarket told us the lock was broken, so I called reception who sent someone to let us out. In the end, I managed to open the lock by putting my hands through the metal game and accessing the lock from the outside. Not an ideal end to our stay.

Warning don't book.
Warning fraudulent activity! I have booked this hotel for £250 a night a business stay of 2 nights. The rooms are dated and I would rate them 2 star status. But the oddest thing is that the place closes at 11pm without night or emergency entrance. As I left the heavy key with pendant at reception I was forced to book another hotel and come back in the morning to collect my belongings. NOBODY WARNS ABOUT THIS WHEN YOU LEAVE THE KEYS. But apparently it is printed on the T&Cs somewhere.

3rd floor with NO elevator - GOTTA BE CLEAR
The announcement is not clear as the place is on the 3rd floor and does not have elevator. It was terrible to bring heavy luggages upstairs. The hotel did not offer a solution as they did not switch my apartment or find someone to help with my luggage. The place is an apartment in a different location from the hotel. In summary, it is more like an Airbnb than a hotel. Also, the internet does not work well.

We would come back here!
The hotel was at the perfect location to walk to the mailing cathedral. The check in was quick and the staff were very courteous and helpful. The apartment that we got was amazing, with a great view of the cathedral, clean, the beds were conformable and it has air conditioned. There are plenty of places to eat. The only downsize is that the great apartment is in the 6th floor and the elevator goes only to the 4th floor so we had to carry our luggage to stories. great place and great city.

The apartment was big enough to accommodate our family of five. Some parts of the apartment were updated. One of the sheets didn’t seem to be too clean. Since it was a hot summer day and there wasn’t any air conditioning, we had to open the windows. We were on the first floor and was super noisy. We could hear siren all night. However, it was very close to everything. We could walk to a lot of places easily. It’s only 10 min walk to the Cologne Cathedral and the Fleur. It’s close to a nice supermarket, too.

Great location within walking distance from train
Upon first arriving we were a tad bit suspect of this small hotel. No need to be as the rooms were all tastefully renovated with very comfortable beds and the staff couldn’t of been more helpful. The local beer on tap in the bar was great! The best Turkish food ever is right next door. Artistanbul.
