Definitely deserves its 4-star rating. Clean, comfortable, good breakfast spread, and lovely (though very cold) pool. Grateful for the hospitality too!
In terms of location, you will need to take Gojek (private hire vehicles) around anyway and it’s a good and central spot for pickups.

We truly enjoyed every part of our stay here, from the comfortable room/bed, to the geniuine service provided by the staff, and not forgetting the wonderful roof top bar over looking a tranquil forest. And the location is close by the popular spots yet tucked away in a quiet village. Don’t forget to try the banana balls for dessert too!

Excellent, serene, peaceful, relaxing location surrounded by dense forest and views of mountains, rice field, villages and Borobudur temple! The staff were the super host - very humble, welcoming, and agile service! The staff understood and served well on our requested dietary preference for Jain and Vegetarian Chinese Indonesian food! The day breaks at 4pm with call for prayers so be prepared to start and end the day early!

The hotel location is brilliant. As it is in an alley, very quiet and peaceful. Very basic amenities but clean and the staff is excellent and very welcoming. So many dining and drinking options, you don't miss that there is no breakfast any longer.

We stayed in Phoenix hotel for 3 nights. The hotel staff has been very helpful and friendly. The rooms are also very nicely decorated although the bathroom seems to be a bit old. I particularly liked the dining area which comes with a nice courtyard and fountain. The location of the hotel is also close to the night market/shopping area and is within 15 minutes walk.

4 tips for savvy savings when booking a hotel in Yogyakarta
Book for the cheapest times: The most affordable time to visit Yogyakarta is during February, March, and September, when hotel prices tend to be lower. For those keen to explore the city's rich landmarks, historical sites, and cultural attractions, a stay of at least 2 to 3 days is recommended. This budget-friendly trip allows visitors to immerse themselves in the beauty of temples, museums, and monuments, as well as partake in traditional dance performances and archaeological tours. With the potential for prices to drop during these months, Yogyakarta offers great value for money for those travelling on a budget.
Look for last-minute deals on Hotels.com: To uncover last-minute deals to Yogyakarta, visit the Dealsopens in new window or Last-Minute Deals sections on Hotels.com, where you may discover discounted hotel rates as your travel date approaches. Consider enabling email alerts or push notifications to stay updated on flash sales and special promotions, ensuring you don’t miss savings opportunities. Additionally, utilise Smart Shopping within the app, a handy tool that allows you to compare hotel prices and amenities, helping you make informed choices. By doing so, you’re more likely to find great hotel deals for your spontaneous getaway.
Be flexible with dates: Prices may differ depending on factors such as the hotel's location, star rating, and time of year, so remaining flexible with your dates could help you save on your stay in a Yogyakarta hotel. For those interested in distinctive accommodations, boutique hotels offer a more personalised experience and might sometimes provide better value. When you book with Hotels.com, we will inform you if the price for your selected dates is above or below the average, and if it is on the higher side, we may suggest more affordable dates to help you find a better deal.
Consider your location: Hotels near the city centre usually tend to be more expensive, but thanks to Yogyakarta’s excellent public transport links, you might find a more affordable independent hotel further afield that remains well connected. For those wishing to explore alternative, less crowded neighbourhoods or even lesser-known nearby towns, there is often excellent value for money. Opting for these alternative destinations could provide a more authentic and budget-friendly experience.
