You get what you pay for. I arrived at 3:30pm & didn't get into my room until 6:30. One person at front desk. No map of property or explanation of where restaurants were, towels for pools or any other services provided. I walked around until I figured it out & asked other guests. Concierge brought me to the elevator...I've always been brought up to the room & shown basic functions of room. Air conditioner was stuck at 24 celsius (74 F) no matter what it was set at (I set much lower & temps never lowered). Spacious room with comfy beds. Rooms were never refreshed or restocked until I called front desk, which was in the evening. Housekeeping was so non-existant until I complained to the manager. The last day my room was refreshed without having
to call front desk--too late. Beautiful beach with no palapas, umbrellas or shade. Pool area umbrellas were broken-one stayed open. No one was around to assist. Food looked beautiful but was bland & flavorless. Anything other than buffet needed reservations which took forever because they were also selling tours at same desk. I've stayed at other Barcelos and expected similar quality. Each Barcelo must operate on different managerial programs and this one was very disappointing & lacking. Totally understaffed housekeeping & front desk really makes for a substandard experience. Spend your money elsewhere.
