Coomunication problems
It was a frustrating experience with our booking at the guesthouse through Hotels.com. We made a non-refundable reservation for the wrong date and realized it immediately after completing the booking. We contacted the guesthouse to request a change to the correct date, but unfortunately, the owner indicated that he was unable to accommodate us. However, after reaching out to Hotels.com, they worked with the owner to arrange a refund, and we successfully made a new booking for the correct date.
After we received acknowledgement of a refund, we made another booking and contacted the guesthouse about our new reservation. Although the owner acknowledged the booking, he expressed his reluctance to accept reservations made through booking sites due to ongoing communication issues with them.
Upon arrival, the staff at the guesthouse were unaware of our booking, which created confusion, especially since we had previously communicated our situation with them over the phone. Thankfully, they accepted us for the night but required proof of payment beyond the booking confirmation.
While the accommodation itself was satisfactory and the staff were friendly, the communication between Hotels.com and the guesthouse was lacking. According to the owner, there seem to be unresolved issues with Hotels.com regarding their communication, which added to the confusion.
I recommend not booking through a booking site as double-checking with the guesthouse prior to arrival did not even ensure a smooth
