Most attractions are within walking distance, making this UNESCO World Heritage site perfect for travellers who appreciate history with a side of scenic beauty.

Cedofeita
Cedofeita blends historic charm with artistic energy in Porto's hippest area. The 12th-century Igreja de São Martinho stands proudly among colourful street murals and art galleries in the Miguel Bombarda quarter. Cobblestone streets wind past azulejo-tiled facades, connecting traditional Portuguese architecture with a vibrant creative scene. Local cafés and wine bars create a cosy atmosphere where travellers mix with residents. Getting around is a breeze with three metro stations serving the area, making it easy to explore both the area and central Porto. Boutique guesthouses in converted historic buildings offer authentic Portuguese hospitality.

Centro / Baixa
Centro/Baixa's UNESCO-protected medieval streets wind between azulejo-tiled facades and wrought-iron balconies. The towering Porto Cathedral offers sweeping views, while São Bento Station dazzles visitors with its elaborate tile murals. Livraria Lello's ornate wooden staircases attract book lovers, and the bustling Bolhão Market showcases local flavours. Traditional tascas serve authentic francesinha sandwiches alongside cosy wine bars pouring local port. Three metro stations and São Bento's train connections make exploring easy, though the neighborhood's charm is best appreciated on foot. Historic boutique hotels occupy beautifully restored buildings throughout this riverside district.

Bonfim
Bonfim offers a refreshing blend of authentic Porto life and emerging artistic energy. Wander past colourful azulejo-tiled facades to discover Igreja do Bonfim church, quaint area squares, and the lively creative scene taking root here. Artists and designers are breathing new life into this traditional area while respecting its Portuguese soul. Duoro River views and the Porto Historic Centre are just minutes away. Getting around couldn't be easier with Campo 24 Agosto and Heroísmo metro stations connecting you to city centre. Traditional tascas serve hearty francesinhas alongside family-run cafés where locals gather for morning coffee. Choose from converted apartments or boutique guesthouses for an authentic stay away from tourist crowds.

Beaches like Praia do Molhe and Praia da Luz offer intimate sandy coves where you can soak up the Portuguese sunshine. The historic lighthouse stands guard where the Douro River dramatically meets the sea. Elegant seafood restaurants with ocean-view terraces serve the freshest catches while boutique shops offer local treasures. Getting around is easy with metro stops at Passeio Alegre and Cantareira. Wander through Porto's historic centre, where medieval alleys lead to unexpected viewpoints over the Douro River. The Bolhao Market buzzes with vendors selling everything from fresh fish to handmade soaps. At Dragao Stadium, join locals in their near-religious devotion to FC Porto, then recover with a port wine tasting across the river in Vila Nova de Gaia. The double-decker Dom Luis I Bridge offers spectacular views whether crossing on foot or by tram. Porto Coliseum hosts performances in a building that seems transported from another century. For the perfect afternoon, grab a francesinha sandwich and people-watch at a riverside café, where waiters somehow balance trays while navigating cobblestones with balletic precision.

Sheraton Porto Hotel & Spa
"Clean room"
The Social Hub Porto
"Excellent location of hotel. Extremely clean and roof top pool and bar fabulous. Servers-Maressa was so helpful and kind. Room was spacious and such a nice shower. Would recommend this place for sure"
Hotels 705 Porto Prime Home
"We had an absolutely excellent stay in Porto. The room was incredibly spacious—honestly, it felt more like staying in a condo than a typical hotel room, which made our stay especially comfortable. The service was also outstanding. The staff kindly held our suitcases both before check-in and after check-out, which allowed us to make the most of our time and explore the city without having to worry about our luggage. Overall, we had a wonderful experience and would definitely stay here again. Highly recommended!"
YOTEL Porto
"In the center of it all"
Hotel Acta the Clover
"This property had a great location to eateries. Many choices and the hotel offered lighter fare, which we took advantage of twice for lunch. We mostly used Bolt (like America's Uber) to get around town. All tours and drivers knew where our hotel was and transport was quite easy. The hotel was immaculately clean, our room was well appointed, with high end amenities. We had a balcony room, which was really nice in the mornings. The roof-top terrace was really nice in the afternoon."
Pestana Vintage Porto Hotel & World Heritage Site
"This hotel is one of the best stays! The rooms are clean and they are cleaned early in the day so if you want to come back after lunch, you have a tidy room. The breakfast is excellent! Lots of choices and great coffee! The staff as well weee super helpful and nice. Highly recommend this hotel!"
Cenica Porto Hotel, Curio Collection by Hilton
"Great place to stay to explore Porto. Good room, great service, would stay again. Had test rooms on the same floor for my family."
Hotel Moon & Sun Porto
"Friendly staff, beautiful room, comfortable beds. The hot buffet breakfast has everything you could want! Complimentary sparkling wine on the rooftop bar is a wonderful treat!"
Zero Box Lodge Porto
"The hotel is a box as they tell you. Is a good adventure; one can rest as there is nothing in the room. I only had a one small backpack so no problem, there are lockers outside your room “box” to put the big luggage. It is quiet and an experience; good price and great location. One gets so tired of walking at Porto that you don’t need more than a great bed and a clean bathroom."

4 tips for savvy savings when booking a hotel in Porto
- Book for the cheapest times: The most affordable time to visit Porto is during January, February, and November, when hotel rates may drop to lower prices. For those looking to explore the city's significant landmarks, cultural attractions, and historical sites, a stay of at least 3 to 4 days is recommended. This budget-friendly timeframe allows visitors to enjoy the enchanting port, meander along the river, savour the local cafes, and admire the romantic monuments. Additionally, it offers great value for money when it comes to shopping, dining, and visiting museums or taking guided tours that delve into Porto's rich history and vibrant culture.
- Look for last-minute deals on Hotels.com: Hotels.com offers travellers access to DealsOpens in a new window to find discounted hotels in Porto. Visitors may discover attractive options near their travel dates by checking the Last-Minute Deals section, where flash sales and special promotions could be available. For added convenience, enable email alerts to stay informed. Additionally, you’re more likely to see a variety of hotel prices and amenities compared using the Smart Shopping tool available via the app. This comparison feature helps you monitor price changes, ensuring you’re among the first to know when rooms become available or when prices drop for a last-minute getaway.
- Be flexible with dates: Prices can fluctuate depending on various factors, including the hotel's location, star rating, and the time of year. Being flexible with your travel dates may help you find a more affordable stay in a Porto hotel. For those seeking something distinctive, boutique hotels can provide a more personalised experience and, at times, better value. When you book through Hotels.com, we'll inform you whether the price for your chosen dates is above or below the average. If the price appears to be on the higher side, we may suggest alternative dates that could offer you a more appealing rate.
- Consider your location: Hotels in proximity to the city centre usually tend to be more expensive, but thanks to Porto's superb public transport links, you may discover a more affordable independent hotel a bit farther out that remains well connected. For those keen to explore alternative, less populated neighbourhoods or even lesser-known nearby towns, there is often excellent value for money to be found. Opting for these alternative destinations could provide a more authentic and budget-friendly experience.
