Cold!
The room was small and poky, which for an old building is perhaps to be expected. Bed was comfy, bathroom was ok (bath only, no shower). Biggest problem was the cold - I was there in November and it was very cold outside, trouble was it was very cold in the room too, uncomfortably so. I was the only guest, there was one radiator in the room and one in the bathroom but both were woefully inadequate. Insulation is a challenge in old buildings I'm sure but more heat is needed, maybe an electric heater or similar as it really was bloody cold. Downstairs in the bar it was OK, with a log fire in the evenings. Staff were friendly and helpful, and the food was fine.

The jolly sailor is a quirky building,, but nice I'm 75 and found the inside steps from the street and the staircase very challenging. If you are a little infirm choose somewhere else

Not the best place we've stayed at
Good breakfast, but wasn't happy with the accommodation or access to the room. Not anticipating a return visit.

Rooms above a pub in a very old building, so it has uneven floor surfaces, low beamed ceilings etc. For anyone who loves this feeling of ancient mellowed beauty, this is a real treat, full of atmosphere and very lovely. Twenty steps from the little harbour, quiet and a balm for the soul. Breakfast on the simple side, but perfectly good.

4/10 Fair

In a great location in the village, a lively Saturday in the pub, being the day of our arrival and a fun evening with a small sea shanty singing group in the main bar. Our bedroom was small and accessed through a narrow staircase and passage, no wardrobe, large bathroom, bath only, no shower over and no handrails on a deep bathtub. Very quiet on Sunday evening and last meals served at 6pm latest and last orders 8.30 ish as we were the last in the bar and had been for some while. The pub is traditional but the building itself is suffering whereby, it would appear that some of the staff have little pride whereby the service provided corresponds. The pub is good with an nice atmosphere at busy times but the hotel accommodation is poor and seems to be in use as they are there following an earlier historic conversion, which is now not up to standards, especially for the rates now being charged.
