8/10 Very good

Homeland hotel Chengdu
The hotel is definitely for locals and not so much for international travelers. The staff tried their best, but their english skills were lacking. I need the address to a location inside the Free Trade Zone translated for the taxi driver. This turned out to be a difficult task. However, the did try their best and 4 people were working on this single request. In the end the translation was incorrect and I was late to my meeting by 40 minutes as the driver asked several people on the street. The one issue with the hotel that was not up to international standards was their lack of non-smoking rooms. The hallways were filled with smoke. Their in room directory does indicate that they have non-smoking floors. However, when I went down and asked to be moved it appeared that they did not actually have a non-smoking floor. They did move me to a floor with less smoke... but you could still smell and taste foul air.
