First time stay.
Great hotel and room. The bed was a little too firm for my liking. The on site car park was very small and struggled with my big car and it was also full so used a really close by ncp car park. The staff all seemed helpful and friendly. I would definitely stay here again.

Cold and disappointing
I booked a 2 night stay as I had always heard positive things about Radisson hotels Upon arrival, the outside did not look well kept but the lobby was clean. We were able to check in early and when we got to our room it was tidy and seemed to be looked after. We later found that the heat/aircon did not work and we raised this with reception who advised they would put the heat on and to give it half an hour. We noticed no difference and called reception, someone came to the room with an electric heater. The heater then set an alarm off and so I had to make a further call to reception. It was 11pm by this point and we were advised no one was available that could change our room but the alarm was turned off so the heater would be fine, unfortunately we were too worried to wake others by setting the alarm off again so slept without and the room was very cold. I went to reception the next morning but was advised the only rooms available were those beside the elevator which may be noisy so we stayed where we were but could anyone look into the heating problem. They said the heater is all that they could offer. After speaking with other guests, this seemed to be a common problem and others had to have heaters provided. The bathroom seemed to also have a stale water/sewage smell which came up when the toilet flushed or water was ran.

Good Location but need better communication.
Good location for York City centre. Modern interiors, good choice of food available st breakfast. Communication in advance of stay could have been better. I had tried to contact the hotel in advance of arrival regarding car parking but never got a response. The telephone number gave an automated answer and said if the car park was full there was an NCP car park with discounted charges nearby. On the day of arrival we found the access to the hotel was blocked off due to road resurfacing, something that the hotel was aware of since they had notices in the hotel informing guests of the roadworks. If you aren’t familiar with driving in York there’s not many places you can pull up to redirect your Sat Nav in busy traffic. We finally found alternative NCP car park which we would have set as our destination if the hotel had bothered to let us know about the road closure. We did the advance check in online but still needed to queue up to get the room keys so it didn’t save anytime. We did get a parking ticket that was supposed to reduce the NCP car park fee from £25 to £18 but the automated barrier wouldn’t accept it so with cars queuing behind us we had no choice but pay the full fee. Overall a nice hotel apart from the car parking issues.

2/10 Poor

Reception manger absolute lack of basic customer service skills, not able to deal with issues whatsoever. Family room is dusty and old, sofa bed mattress is slanted, unable to sleep, bathroom door unable to lock, air condition does not work, blocked shower drain! Absolutely mess! Additionally, toothbrush left over called multiple times, they don't even bother to check or call back, after almost a week waiting and callings, Hotel charged £15 for a toothbrush return, Honestly?!

The hotel is in a good location. It is a short 10 walk to the old town. The hotel looks old and might be a little outdated but the room was very nice and quite modern. It was a good size room with a view looking out onto the street. Breakfast was very good! There was a surcharge that I had to pay unfortunately which I didn't like. I don't know why breakfast is hardly included in hotel stays anymore. You pay big bucks of your stay and then if you want breakfast, you have to pay? I don't like that. But anyways, it was very good with so many great options. Hot and cold options available and it was a buffet style. 10/10 for breakfast without a doubt.
