Being harassed and locking out my daughter with all her things in there. Forced to find better service elsewhere. We will not return or recommend to anyone. Felt discriminated and harassed and unsafe. Expecting a full refund.

The older lady at the front desk had an extremely rude attitude towards our family from the moment we arrived, and that attitude continued for the duration of our stay. The room was alright however floors had not been mopped or swept prior to arrival and there’s a spider problem in the rooms as well. Our pillows were very flat and had weird spots on the cases. Only nice thing about this place is the distance to the beach and the older gentleman who was so kind. Overall , very frustrating experience for the price we paid and I would not go back

Definitely would not stay here again, the check in was confusing and difficult. Once we got to our room there was no parking available on the property. The room was not clean, there was a tiny sheet on a mattress that looked like someone may have bled out on it, stains everywhere. A/c is ineffective and loud. Seems like there’s black mold on the ceiling. Dark, and dirty. The ONLY bright side is how close it is to the beach, and near by shops. Water pressure in the dirty shower is great also. Spend the extra $50 and go to a nicer place.

Great, bike friendly place to stay. The people there are super friendly. Lots of room, dishes, good microwave, good fridge, good wifi, pretty much everything you need. Its not a new/shiny 5 start hotel and there is a few minor things I would spend a day and fix it up that would go a long way but in the end, its the only place in Penticton I ever go to as it fits my needs perfectly.

It’s a ok place does what it’s intended, very small rooms especially for a family with dogs Beds were unbelievably uncomfortable. However your not in your room much . Excellent location! Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Pool was nice!

Dont book your stay

We were expecting that this place will give us satisfaction but to our dismay, manager at the office was making calls instead of checking in the people who are waiting for him… toilet dont have any toilet tissue, towels is worse than our rug at home… under beds are not just dusty but lots of garbage.. I like the place coz it is very near the beach, but i will never book any stay in this hotel again…

The 2 best things about this property are (1) the location - you're literally right across from the beach. Ice cream shop below, restaurants and rentals (kayaks, paddleboards, bikes, floats) all within walking distance. This is not a 4 star hotel. It's an older (but renovated) motel so if you're just looking for a convenient place to sleep before you spend the day outside you can't get any better than this for the price. The second best thing about the property is the gentleman that works at the front office. Never met a nicer host. Anything you need, he is more than happy to accommodate. I would stay here again for the price point.

The ceiling fan in our room was falling down and unsafe to use which was unfortunate because it was hot weather and would’ve been useful. As well, the safety sign/firemap or whatever it is right beside the door was shattered glass and half missing - could’ve easily sliced a finger - needs to be replaced asap. Everything else was great and beds were comfy!

The location was great. It's across from the beach and near many restaurants. We (a family of 4) stayed at the 1bedroom with kitchen and here are the issues with that room. 1) the smoke detector was detached and broken 2) the shower head was terrible, splashed everywhere but the person under it 3) the sofa bed was the worst I have ever slept on, the mattress with the hard coils needs to be replaced immediately! 4) the outdoor pool was nice but the water was freezing cold and lots of bugs were floating 5) the fan in the living room made lots of noise and it looked like it's going to fall any time In short, a great location but a terrible room.

Great location across from beach but that really is the only redeeming thing about this property. It is quite dilapidated in the rooms and outside. Our room was not ready at 4pm when we arrived so they hurried to complete it. It was poorly cleaned. Floor was sandy and dirty. Bedside table had food crumbs. We paid way too much to stay at the Golden Sands given it’s condition.

The ONLY thing going for this property is the location. The overall property condition, staff attitude, and room quality are poor. Areas of the grounds look abandoned, dirty and unsafe for young children. The check in staff were bordering on rude when we asked to check in at 2pm or as soon as possible after that. We were told to come back at 4pm and were not allowed to leave luggage until then. Even at 4pm their computer “crashed” so we waited another 20 minutes to get a key. The room had 3 refrigerators of varying sizes for some reason with 1 working. The lamp on the bedside table appears to be a prop as there was no where to plug it in. Coffee machine but no coffee etc. staff smoking in non smoking areas. No thanks!

Way overpriced for what we got, dirty and not even the room that we had reserved. There is no staff on shift between 5 pm and 10 am, so if you need anything, too bad. There is a phone in the room, but its not connected to anything, there werent even wires just a phone on a table. The microwave didnt work because the cord couldnt reach the outlet. There was no coffee and we couldnt even microwave the coffee we had to go out and buy. The shower was terrible. The pool is open from 10-5 although its advertised as 9-10. With it being 10-5 you only have one hour to swim in the morning between 10 and 11 when you have to check out, and you also only have an hour in the evening to swim as check in is at 4 and it closes at 5. We also werent told the street in front of the motel would be closed at checkout time so we had to park 4 blocks away and walk with all of our kids and luggage from the motel to the car because we couldnt drive back to the motel after going for breakfast. Spoke to staff, they shrugged their shoulders and did not care.

Location is good and rooms are not bad amd good enough. Grounds are dirty and poorly maintained. Outside of building looks poor and dilapitated. Service is non existent. There are no overnight staff to help if you have any issues. This was a Saturday night. The neighboring room let their phone ring all night (too drunk to hear it ringing). Called front desk and left 2 messages to try and resolve problem. Nobody working and I didnt even get a call back when they came into work at 9am. Eventually I got fed up and and banged on the divider wall to turn their phone ringer off. Finally they did but they thought it would be funny to then barricade my front door with patio chairs in the morning. When I mentioned this to the front desk staff one of girls laughed and thought this was funny. Very unprofessional. I would not recommend staying here for this reason.
