Stay at Hampton Inn Suites Smithfield VA

The friendliest, most professional staff I have encountered in a long time. The facility was clean (despite our arrival during a snow storm); the room was nicely appointed; the complimentary breakfast was artfully arranged and plentiful. A very relaxing three days' stay.

Stayed for four days...an extended weekend for a family gathering. The room was clean, well equipped, good AC, and quiet. Their breakfast buffet was yummy. The staff was very helpful, with a special thanks to Christina who helped me make some changes to my reservations

Great hotel! The only issue we had was no hot water for shower the first night. By the third night we had enough hot water. It appears that hot water heaters will be replaced soon.

An older hotel but well kept. Rooms were spacious but missing some of the newer amenities. WIFI was very good and free. Difficult to figure out TV channels as no menu was provided on the TV. A written channel guide was provided to help.

The upholstered furniture in the room (chairs) was so old and stained, I had to put a towel down before sitting on the them. In the lobby area, they were very dirty and ugly too. Smell in hallways was not pleasant. Bed was decent, not great. A/C was noisy and erratic. I won't stay here again.

DO NOT STAY! BED BUG INFESTED!!!! This was by far the worst stay I’ve ever had in a hotel. I woke up to bugs crawling in the bed. I immediately called the front desk for someone to come and confirm what feared. I will say, the front desk attendant was absolutely wonderful in dealing with the situation. The housekeeping manager or whoever she was on the other hand was an absolute mess. She kept saying the bedding was brand new. The front desk attendant had to tell her at least twice, it’s not the bedding. These bugs are in the creases of the mattress. Then she had the nerve to keep insinuating I brought them with me. I also had a family member staying on a totally different floor also experience the same. I called corporate to advise that this hotel is absolutely disgusting and needs to be renovated immediately. The furniture is all stained, the carpet is torn, the walls are stained, fixtures are broken and should cease operation immediately!

This property did not seem like a Hampton Inn, the rooms are in need of a remodel. (Baseboards, picture frames, lamp shades, electric panels ALL broken or chipped in areas) We had three different rooms 402, 202 and 310 that were all in similar condition. This was very disappointing since I pushed my Husband for us to stay at this property that usually carries a better reputation and quality standards. I could go on about a few more things that need changed but turning to a more positive note, we felt safe and the breakfast was descent.

Check in clerk was fantastic. When I was dropping off the key cards, the person barely looked up from his phone to acknowledge me. Room was a great size and very usable space. Largest complaint was the hot water. Don't know if it was because we were on the 1st floor, but it took several minutes to get warm water. After 5 additional minutes in the shower, was the water actually approaching hot!. Went to get breakfast at 9:30 and many items were already being put away even though breakfast was supposed to be served until 10:00 am.
