Hotel's Horror Error - Made us out as Exploiters
Paid extra for a double bedded sea view room. Arrived early, was checked in along with passports but our sea view room wasn’t ready. No problem. They stored our luggage, gave us the tag and we started our day out.
Arrived back at hotel late at night expecting a good rest. Was informed by new set of receptionists that we weren’t checked in. Made to fish passports out of deep crevice of bagpack (sent there thinking it was no longer required until date of departure out of Batam). Then was told our reservation was for a standard twin bedder, city view. Even after we argued and showed email proof of our booking and asked to speak to a ‘higher up’ – manager not available but supervisor, was told sternly queen bed “for this time but no sea view”.
Too tired to stand our ground, we took the “offer”, highly offended by the treatment. Were just getting comfortable when 1st call came through. Ignored. 2nd call came through a few minutes later. They’d realised their error and rather insisted to ‘help us pack’ our bags to relocate. Declined as we’d unpacked and were getting ready to retire for the night. Repeated that we should relocate. We gave up. Hung up. At about 1030pm-ish our door bell rang – 3 times!!!
The saving grace was their manager, Zelvi who showed ultimate patience and poise when we complained the next morning. They’ve since written to us to inform that they will provide an upgrade and breakfast during our next stay. Should we though? Sigh!!
