What a hidden gem that’s a little off the beaten path. I was looking for a last minute place to stay near Rice Lake wildlife refuge and a room was available. The lodge room was above the bar, and we took advantage of the bar and then the pool area, so there was never a noice issue. The pool area was one of the cleanest I think I’ve ever seen. All the staff from the front desk to the bar was super friendly and helpful

Very nice place - just starting out for Summer. Very clean and staff were perfect. Only issues were maybe not having hotel rooms ready: TV did not work in room, coffee not out at 8AM in morning (no pot in room), etc. Bar and food were nice to have. Lake access was questionable as hotel stay apparently could not dock boat - cabled off to villa owners/renters only??? Maybe would be nice to inform people staying in advance how to access lake, what is up with TV, etc. I would come back some day.

We went to Big Sandy lodge to have a weekend trip. When we got there, the first thing we noticed in the bedroom was, there was no air conditioning. It was only a fan. Luckily, it was only 80° out, so we had the windows opened. And it worked if it would have been 90° out, we wouldn't have been able to stay there. Second thing we noticed is the toilet seat was broken, and every time you tried to sit on it, it pinched, so we had to put a towel around it. And told the front desk and they said that wouldn't be fixed till after we left. One of our biggest things to do when we go on a weekend away is swim. When we went to the pool, it was ice cold. The heater wasn't working at all. Nobody that was down there could even stay in there, not even the little kids. So we left disappointed.
