Playa de San Juan
San Juan Beach's golden sands stretch for over four miles, offering a perfect playground for sun-seekers and water enthusiasts. Stroll the palm-lined promenade where local families and visitors mingle over gelato and sunset views. Beach clubs and water sports centers dot the shoreline, while the impressive lighthouse stands as a coastal landmark you can spot from almost anywhere. Seafront chiringuitos serve fresh paella with Mediterranean views, and residential areas hide authentic tapas bars away from the crowds. Most hotels feature pools and terraces with direct beach access, making beach days effortless. The TRAM Line 1 connects you to Alicante's centre in just 20 minutes when you're ready to explore beyond the shore.

Barri Vell - Santa Creu
Alicante's Barri Vell - Santa Creu will transport you back in time through its winding cobblestone streets and colourful houses. The 16th-century Santa Cruz Hermitage sits proudly atop this ancient quarter, offering stunning views. You can wander through hidden plazas, visit the impressive Basilica of Santa Maria, or explore cultural treasures at the Alicante Museum of Contemporary Art. Family-run tapas bars serve authentic Valencian cuisine in centuries-old buildings throughout the area. This pedestrian-only zone requires good walking shoes, as steep historic streets limit vehicle access. Charming boutique guesthouses in restored traditional homes make perfect bases for exploring this quiet, authentic slice of Spanish life.

L'Albufereta
L'Albufereta blends ancient history with beach bliss in this sun-soaked Alicante area. Roman ruins at Lucentum stand proudly above golden Mediterranean shores where travellers can dive into clear waters or lounge on sandy beaches. Coastal walkways wind past holiday resorts, perfect for sunset strolls after exploring archaeological treasures dating back centuries. Beach bars and seafood restaurants line the promenade, serving fresh paella with ocean views. While public transport is limited, the area is walkable along flat coastal paths. Most visitors stay in holiday apartments or beachfront resorts that offer stunning sea views and easy access to both history and shoreline.

Alicante City Centre
Alicante City Centre wraps you in centuries of Spanish charm with its medieval Santa Bárbara Castle perched above cobblestone streets. The palm-lined Explanada de España promenade invites lazy strolls along wave-patterned marble tiles while Mediterranean breezes carry the scent of cafe cortados. Gothic architecture meets beach life here, with Postiguet Beach just a sandy five-minute walk from historic plazas. Hungry travellers can dive into tapas bars tucked between honey-colored buildings or splurge on fresh seafood along the waterfront. The city center's walkable design means visitors can explore most sights without transport, though the convenient TRAM connects to suburban beaches every 15 minutes.

Ensanche Diputación
Ensanche Diputación gives you an authentic slice of Alicante life without tourist crowds cramming your photos. The neighborhood's grid-pattern streets lined with cream and ochre buildings create a peaceful base for city exploration. You'll discover local bakeries, family-run tapas spots, and small plazas where actual residents hang out. The area strikes a perfect balance - affordable yet just a 15-minute stroll from major attractions. Apartment rentals and guesthouses offer budget-friendly stays with genuine Spanish character. Buses connect you easily to beaches and city centre while the neighborhood's tranquil vibe makes evenings refreshingly low-key.

Hotel Sercotel Maya Alicante
"The best"
Hotel Les Monges Palace Boutique
"Booked as a solo traveller, mainly due to the location and price. Great central location in the old town, a few streets back from the beach. Very quiet. Room on second floor over looked a courtyard. No noise at all from outside but could hear all rooms surrounding me and upstairs! Something to bear in mind! Room small but big enough at same time. Shower powerful. Bed and pillows comfy. Clean. Tea and coffee provided and can top up from supplies in floors foyer. Breakfast available for €11 but I ate out each day. Fridge in room. Rooftop bar not open to serve drinks but I took my own up and sat and enjoyed the view. Felt very safe in hotel and surrounding areas. Would happily return."

"Everything best"
AC Hotel Alicante by Marriott
"We had a family room with a large bed and a sofa bed . With the sofa bed down the room was slightly tight but manageable . Room was clean and tidy. We didn’t have enough towels for 4 though only 2 and only 2 pool towels so we had to call and wait on them being delivered . Pool area was good and quite busy but great view and we had some drinks by the pool too . The bar staff were excellent . Breakfast was good but there could be more choice if you want to be picky. Parking is very tight and chargeable on a first come first served basis at €16 per night. Great location, great view , rooftop pool bar, I would definitely stay again."

"Did not like that there was no lobby as such"

- Book for the cheapest times: For budget-conscious travellers, Alicante offers an affordable escape with lower prices during January, February, and December. A stay of at least 3 to 4 days can provide great value for money as you explore the city's rich history and culture through its landmarks, castles, and other cultural attractions. Highlights include the enchanting beach, the historic castle, and the vibrant marina, port, and festival scenes, all of which may drop in price during these months. This makes Alicante an ideal destination for those seeking a budget-friendly experience without compromising on the quality of attractions related to landmarks, history, and culture.
- Look for last-minute deals on Hotels.com: Hotels.com offers a range of opportunities to save on your stay in Alicante. Begin by browsing the DealsOpens in a new window section, where you may discover discounted hotel rates. For those planning a spontaneous visit, check the Last-Minute Deals for potential savings close to your travel date. Furthermore, the Smart Shopping tool available via the app could help you compare hotel prices and amenities, making it easier to spot any reductions and secure your ideal getaway.
- Be flexible with dates: Prices can fluctuate due to various factors, including the hotel's location, star rating, and the time of year. Therefore, being flexible with your travel dates may help you find savings on your stay in an Alicante hotel. For those seeking something distinctive, boutique hotels can provide a more personalised experience and potentially better value. When you book through Hotels.com, we’ll inform you if the price for your chosen dates is above or below the average. If the price is on the higher side, we may suggest alternative dates that could be more affordable, assisting you in uncovering a better deal.
- Consider your location: Hotels in proximity to the city centre usually tend to be more expensive, but thanks to Alicante's exceptional public transport links, you may discover a more affordable independent hotel located a bit further out that remains well-connected. For those eager to explore alternative, less crowded neighbourhoods or even lesser-known nearby towns, there is often excellent value for money to be found. Opting for these alternative destinations could provide a more authentic and budget-friendly experience.
