Charming traditional street with cafes and restaurants
Good for: Couples, Families, Shoppers, History
Hwangnidan-gil, or Hwangnidan Street, is full of cafes and restaurants sporting unique concepts. There are plenty of new buildings, but the secret to its popularity is the old buildings and traditional Korean homes (hanok) from the ‘60s and ’70s that are still well-preserved.
The street is close to the famous Daereungwon Tomb Complex and Cheomseongdae, meaning that it’s a place where Gyeongju’s past and present come together. Sitting at a modern cafe and looking at Daereungwon might feel just a tad surreal. This place is also great for taking a break and enjoying the rest of Gyeongju while visiting Bomun Lake.
