Elizabeth is a great host, we enjoyed our stay. She is also a very good cook. The Tavern is very nice but you need to be prepared to do alot of steps.

My husband and I needed a place to stay on our way to Maine. The Fletcher Tavern was perfect. We were greeted by the owner, had an enjoyable evening, and very comfortable night. In the morning, a delicious “English” breakfast was skillfully repaired for us after having a plate of fresh fruit. The Tavern is a lovely historic home run by an interesting and engaging owner. We are very pleased we chose to stay there.

Do not recommend. The host was a bit strange. Personal items were rearranged and or removed from the room. It was just a very scary stay. Can’t even describe it.

4/10 Fair

The EXPEDIA listing stated that the room we booked ("Room with a View" on 2nd floor) had air conditioning. IT DID NOT have it's own A/C. The property website does not state anything about A/C, so perhaps the fault lies with communications between Expedia and the proprietor. The property was very clean, well kept & decorated beautifully. But it was extremely hot that week & the proprietor told us to turn on the window A/C unit in the PUBLIC sitting room across the hall, and place the box fan in our OPEN bedroom door to pull the cool air into our room. There were people booked in the other 2 rooms, so we felt VERY uncomfortable leaving our door wide open all night. Two of the 3 windows in our room were sealed shut, and the 3rd opened onto the street and there was no breeze. A note to anyone with mobility issues: this room is on the 2nd floor, has a tub with a shower nozzle but no enclosure and no safety rails.

Colonial Charm, Red-Coat Rules
The accommodations and ambiance were amazing. Very quaint, quintessentially colonial and English charming in gardens and decor. It was all I expected in terms of the center of Westford and Old Academy Hill. Elizabeth, the inn-keeper, was an amazing culinary breakfast cook who took every consideration of her guests dietary needs. However, Elizabeth's 2-pages of rules, need for notes instead of conversation, and inability to interact in a pleasant and warm way made the stay uncomfortable. Her presence, at times, gave a fearful air to the room as if you did not want to inconvenience her or not meet with her expectations in any way, lest you'd be scolded. No-one wants that on a trip of relaxation. If Elizabeth were to smile more, be concerned less about guests messing up her "house" and be more open to the possibility of joy, she may find some rewards in Inn Ownership other than money. And, she may also find more repeat customers, such as myself.

Nice Change from the Hotel Chains
I was lucky enough to choose Fletcher Tavern for my recent business trip to Westford. What a lovely change from staying at the usual business hotels. It’s a really charming place to stay. Elizabeth is a perfect hostess, preparing varies and delicious breakfasts and making all guests welcome. It was lovely to meet some interesting people and enjoy good conversation. I also found some pleasant and historic places to walk nearby, including Walden Pond and the (Revolutionary) Battle Road as well as local trails.

To go back in time...
I’ve spent many days traveling alone, but this time was with my wife and I wanted it to be special in every sense of the word. Honestly, I didn’t expect much from the stay at the Fletcher house, but it proved to be one of the most memorable ones in my life. You might find it odd that a bed and breakfast could have such an affect, but the history of the home, the authenticity and style of the breakfast served each morning along with the warm heart and conversation from our host made this a pleasant and comforting stay. We’ve done nothing but rehash our time in Maine and Massachusetts, but our stay here, was and will be high on our list forever.

Using a Bed & Breakfast is a choice to experience something new. Fletcher Tavern is a lovely historic home with beautiful gardens and comfortable clean and spacious private accommodations. Interesting and stimulating conversation is available at breakfast if desired. The varied breakfast menu was served in an appealing presentation. The food was delicious. Fresh local fruits and baked goods were among the offerings. We stayed four nights enjoying the cool New England Spring weather.
