We signed up for the shabu-shabu dinner course, and it did not disappoint—it was one of the best meals I've had at a hotel in Japan, in terms of quality, variety and amount. (None of us ate much breakfast the next morning.)
The hotel building is a bit aged, but very nice inside and well-maintained. The staff was helpful, and the young woman who served us at dinner was very professional (each group had their own server).
3 mins. walk from the hotel was a stairway down to the adjacent river, as good a nature get-away as you're likely to ask for. It took us about 30 mins. by car to get to the Toshogun area, but we preferred staying out of the main tourist area.
