Recenty refurbished to a high standard, especially for what is basically a nice pub. Or room had a balcony, although no view, and air conditioning. The ensuite was very good, with a walk-in shower. The breakfast was good value and very nice, especially the full English. Staff were all very helpful and polite, particularly Alex. The location is excellent with loads of pubs and restaurants just over the railway line. We managed to park outside throughout our stay, but there are also several car parks close by.

Stayed two nights at The Ship hotel in August. The room ( no 7) was on the first floor. It was beautifully decorated and the ensuite bathroom, although quite tiny, had a large shower and good shelf space for toiletries. The juliet balcony looked up the hill, with a sea view to the right. We had a car parking space included, which was very helpful, as space is at a premium. We had breakfast in the restaurant, the food was good, the fresh orange juice delicious and the staff welcoming. We also had an evening meal . The menu wasn't extensive but the food was tasty and well presented. Overall a great hotel, well maintained, friendly staff and a good location in Leigh on Sea.

We loved the place itself, but the most outstanding element was our interaction with the staff, led by Anneka on reception. We travel a lot and Anneka (hope spelling is correct) stands out. She was superb. Friendly, engaging, helpful. Always smiling. Always proactive in offering to help. One of the best we’ve experienced in a very long time!

Absolutely brilliant stay! We only did a one night stay but the hotel itself is superb. Very friendly staff (Grace in particular), with clean modern fittings and fixtures. Comfortable bed and pillows and breakfast was so fresh and tasty. Highly recommend!
