Travelling with teenagers
You get what you pay for. This place was awesome for our family. The suite was perfect. Family of five - 3 teenagers- we need Somme space for everyone and they accommodated with excellence. Love the room, kitchen with plates and stove, lots of room for everyone. I highly recommend for anyone travelling on a budget and doesn’t mind a room that’s a bit dated. *loved the view

Frightening experience
A fight in the next room with a woman screaming and bodies being knocked around against the wall caused me to check out early the next morning and not stay my second night. I told the management I was frightened and I needed to leave. I wanted to refund and was told that was impossible.

4/10 Fair

We weren’t expecting it to be incredible but it was pretty dirty/old. Bright green algae was growing inside the top of the faucet. Keep your socks on in the room and good luck balancing shower water between unbearably hot and freezing cold. We were offered the spare key for our room, then told the last guests had actually failed to turn it in, which seems like it should be a huge problem to me? It was just a regular turnkey, so they probably should be getting locks changed if previous guests are taking them with them. We kept the chain on whenever we were in the room. I will say though - the location is great and the price is low. We weren’t here for an incredible hotel, we wanted to explore the city and area. Definitely hedge your bets with this one, it will be as bad as you think if not worse - but if you need a deal, this is probably it. I wouldn’t stay here more than three nights, maximum. And if you stay in #222, make sure they’ve changed the locks!

Pros: - Refurbished apartment, so large room for a good price - Larger rooms have kitchen with appliances (not sure about smaller rooms) - Great location for young/active people. Very close to the beach and lots of hole-in-the wall dining and bars - Free coffee and tea in the lobby - Included Wifi was great - Has coin-op laundry (did not use, but noticed was there) Mid: - Has a small, underground parking lot for $20 a day (but really hard and annoying to get in and out of. Bring a small car!) - Desk service, while mostly passive, provided amenities and assistance when asked. Room service was only upon request Cons: - No complimentary breakfast - The place feels old and dated. Most furniture are actually clean, but look really dirty due to age unknown stains - We booked 2 large rooms, and because of the piecemeal renovations, had some weird issues. 1 room had a really slippery bathtub and no place to hang toilet paper next to the toilet. Another bathroom had a horrible arrangement. The toilet was butt up against the door and toilet paper making for an unsittable experience (plus the door had a carved-out hole to be able to swing past the toilet to close) - Elevator broke down on us twice during our 3 night stay - These last point are personal preferences. The location not for large groups, people with low mobility, people with their own/rental cars (especially larger vehicles), or in general, people who dislike or are unused to the noisy hustle and bustle of downtown life

Pro: location, quiet when windows closed Cons: old as in stove from 1970s! I don’t mind older decor, but carpets need to be replaced every decade or so. Elevator was out a couple times. First room smelled horribly of urine and bleach, switched me to one that only smelled musty. I kept window open 24/7. I would not stay here again.

The staff was very good and helpful. But the old carpet and chairs and beds were really awful These are apartment style rooms. Someone was maybe cooking fish and the smell in the whole floor was really bad Nothing was updated from the windows to the bathrooms with touchy plumbing

All ok, bed was very comfy, just all a bit dated, but it was clean. The room was huge with table and chairs a desk a kitchenette, full fridge freezer, closet space. Would stay again.

2/10 Poor

It would be worth the $50 to stay somewhere less unnerving. Door to room had insecure lock, pillows were pretty nasty, sheets were too small for the bed so the mattress was exposed as soon as you got into bed. People were nice and readily provided more pillow cases but the place is the definition of a dump.

DO NOT EVER STAY HERE This place was BEYOND disgusting. I brought my daughter and her best friend to Vancouver for her Sweet 16, and I chose this hotel based on the distance to the water. I did book months in advance and always look at reviews. At that time, most were quite reasonable, so I went ahead and booked it. For $300... I would have rather stayed in a cardboard BOX. This place is SO gross!! I can overlook the "outdated" room, etc. But the reception area is disgusting and dirty, the staff weren't helpful (if you could even find anyone who worked there). The hallways are AWFUL and musty and you want to hold your breath while you walk through them. The carpets throughout the hotel are FILTHY, and NOT vacuumed at all. The CHAIRS in the room are stained with questionable stains. The windows are filthy, the kitchen was gross. I am horried that I brought my daughter and her best friend here, considering that we didn't even want to walk without shoes on, or get under the blankets in the bed, or SIT ANYWHERE. The parking situation is the most sketchy. I thought having a hotel with parking (albeit $20) would be good. But the parking garage had old bathtubs and so much other random garbage. It did not feel safe at all. And the entrance is so steep and so narrow that it was awful to get in and out of. I stay in hotels ALL of the time. And I am NOT picky. But I DO expect cleanliness... And this hotel is the FURTHEST FROM IT.
