Great location, warm bedroom.
Great location - a few blocks off of Odori Park (so a few blocks from 2 metro lines). Tons of restaurants around. On the same street as the fish market (great breakfast sushi). It's warm inside (that's important when it's -6C outside). Strong wifi. The showers are only on the 5th floor, so you'll have to go up to the dining room/shower area on 5 to take a shower. The breakfast is just tea and toast and jam (no butter). But the front desk staff can recommend breakfast places that have more substantive food.

Great hostel in a very central location. Easy 15 minute walk from Sapporo JR station. Lots of shopping and convenience stores within the area. Bunk was very spacious. Very clean bathrooms and toilets, and free towels was a plus.

Great staff but some problems with design noise
Great staff, but place stinks in the bathroom on the men’s floor, also cubicles are built with a flaw, they are made from wood and you can hear every noise because it is amplified, further the bathroom has this on and off switch automatically so u can’t really take a real shower. It is made to save water but it is a terribly bad solution. The staff are sweet and perfect. It just these 3 problems need to be solved soon so there is less noise around the mixed room.

One of the nicest and cleanest hostels I’ve ever stayed at, the dorms and facilities are great. The location is perfectly located for everything downtown and for getting around Sapporo as well as the rest of Hokkaido. What really puts this hostel above the rest though is the staff, they are extremely helpful and friendly. They go above and beyond to help out their guests, especially Miri, she was so kind and just such a big help in planning things. I’ve stayed here twice and will absolutely stay again next time I’m in Sapporo.

Modern and Stylish hostel in the centre of Sapporo. A short walk/subway ride from Sapporo train station, the hostel is also close to the local tram line that can take you to some of the tourist spots (Nakajima Park, the Mt. Moiwa Tram). Very friendly staff, very willing to help you with your Japanese if you’re a language learner and to recommend places to see/eat. The library (ground floor) also has a number of easy Japanese books good for learners. Shower, bathroom, and kitchen facilities are both very modern. The coin-op washing machines also automatically add detergent, so you don’t have to buy any if you need to clean your clothes. Bunks are spacious enough, and each has a safe for precious items. If/When I return to Sapporo, I will definitely stay here again. Thank you everyone at Goen for a lovely stay!

Goen Lounge and Stay was awesome!
Amazing! Would highly recommend this hostel to anyone visiting Sapporo. Location is central Susukino and is a stones throw from heaps of awesome sights and activities. Staff were hospitable, with some members of staff speaking good English which was very helpful! Would stay here again :)
