Quaint
We had a great time at the DeSoto hotel. The lobby is beautiful and service was kind and informative. We had a great view in our corner room overlooking the skyline of the city. It was an average comfort for the bed. Unfortunately, I'm assuming since it rained so much, my husband and I woke up to a strange, funky smell that kept us up all night. We grabbed a defuser from the store the next day and it seemed to help. If you are going in rain season, I suggest you pack one. It's to no fault of the hotel as, we discovered, that smell was also throughout the streets the next day. Overall, it was a nice get away with great food and drinks on-site and around the hotel.

Horrible start to a romantic valentines get away..
Was told my vehicle could not be valet because it was a truck and too big (how is a normal chevy silverado 1500 too big?)but whatever; Checked in around 5:30pm and told my room wasn't ready, was told by valet to move my truck before it was towed, 5 mins after I just unloaded luggage to check in. Front desk held my bags while I searched for street parking, hopefully finding something close; later finding a spot 4 blocks away of course in pouring down rain. Gave my girl the umbrella since she just got her hair done so by the time i made it back was completely soaked and Frustrated; was offered 1 drink at the bar by front desk (could've used 3 more by that point) but room was ready a little after 6pm, was luckily able to dry off enough in time for my 7pm reservations, my girlfriend and I weren't really feeling the romance at that point.... Kinda ruined the mood, not planning on going back

Change of Room
We paid for a King size bed, and when we arrive to the hote, they said they were sold out and change us to a two double bed. I ask if the price would be lower due to the downgrade. They told us, that they were upgrading to a better room with double beds and when we arrive to the room it was pretty basic, no upgrade and didn’t satisfy our needs because the beds were very small.

Booked off of hotels com and they didn’t have the room I picked and paid for nor was check in on time which is 4! Plus $34 for valet which I had to tract down the lady who had my keys

Great location
Great location within walking distance to most. Standard room with walkout to common balcony with dividers. Weather didn’t allow pool use but it did look amazing. Didn’t like not having coffee pot in room but coffee shop was in lobby. I would definitely stay here again.

Not worth the multiple upcharge
I was surprised at check in to be charged $150 for pet fee. I looked under more information and the fee wasn’t listed there like the other hotels typically do. Instead it was listed somewhere else and it really surprised me. No free parking. You have to valet which is a headache if you need to access your car. Overall not worth the up charge. And I wish they were more transparent about it
