Traumatized at the Talbott Inn
We checked in, our room was located in the back of the building. We had to enter through a back alleyway, very sketchy. When we entered the room, we discovered that it was already occupied. Even though we made our reservation a month ago, choosing our room. We went back to the registration desk, they had no record of ANYONE using that room. It took them an hour to locate an unoccupied room for us to use. We will never stay there again. Very disappointing.

Failing businesses ruining an American icon.
They seem to be living on their history & perhaps Covid impacted them. However, the owner needs to step it up big time. We stayed in the modern part that was nicely furnished & clean. The curtains did not close & their were no towel bars at all in the bathroom. Careless over sights that made me feel they did not appreciate the $200 off season I gave them for 2 people for 1 night. The dining room is filthy. Bacon was the only quality item on the plate & the coffee was weak hot water. One man was handling the breakfast which was not busy. Maybe he is paid $1.00/hour but he clearly had no pride in the job or desire to be the least bit friendly. The young woman who checked us in was efficient. Fortunately the 2 cleaning women we met in the main bldg & the other in our bldg were friendly. Otherwise we would have felt totally unwelcome, even a burden to the business. The Talbott can stumble on a while longer on the backs of the unsuspecting, but it won't last. The first thing I learned from a business professor is that quality is always less expensive. Obviously the owner(s) don't care & are milking this until it collapses. Too bad. The Talbot is an important part of American history. I hope the Bardstown Chamber of Commerce intervenes before it is to late.

Very cool hotel. The main hotel with the bar and restaurant has the older rooms with some history. However these are the no frill rooms so if you prefer a more updated room you should ask for a room in the building that used to be the old gift shop. Very friendly staff and an amazing bar.

This is a very old inn that has done a great job of preserving history. The staff are very helpful. If you’re looking to stay in a place with history, this is your spot. We ate at the restaurant, which was very good. Ended the night at the bourbon bar where we ended up talking to the nicest lady who eventually revealed herself to be an owner. Great location. Walking distance to shopping, dining, and bars. The self guided audio tour of the inn is a must do. Highly recommend!

Great Historic Inn
This was our third stay at the Talbott Inn. We love everything about the place. It's history, the uniqueness of the accommodations, and the friendly staff. The restaurant has a good selection on it's menu and everything that tried was done very well. A big plus is the large selection of bourbons that are available. A good place to try something new. We will return.
