Great staff running this place
Had a lovely stay here, made even better by the team running it. Rooms are a good size, clean with a shower cubicle in the bathroom.

Great pub, nice food
Great pub, nice food Rooms a little basic, although it has the nice complimentary toiletries and fresh coffee The closeness of the walkway ,means you could get woken everytime someone passes.

Very dissapointing
We arrived to a building site. The front garden was a rubble dump. The bar was closed but we were told we could have a drink in the restaurant !!!!!!.Room was OK but cobwebs hanging from the ceiling. When we went for breakfast (which was part of our booking) we were told " sorry we don't offer breakfast included"so had to fetch my paperwork to prove what I had booked breakfast included.Reluctantly got our breakfast inc.. It would have been good to be informed in advance of the work that was being carried out with either an offer to cancel or at least some sort of discount. (this was the beginning of our golden wedding celebrations, so it didn't start well) This is the first time that I have written a negative report about any of the many bookings we have done through but in this case I think it is fully justified.

Big room, however, there wasn’t enough power sockets and none near the bed. Nearest sockets to the bed we’re about 8 feet away. Requested iron which was unusable as it leaked!! Also no hairdryer in the room. With regards to our meal, the steak & ale pie was something I’d expect from a Vintage Innnot a two rosette awarded restaurant. Stew in a bowl with a puff pastry lid, very disappointing. Overall we think it was expensive for what it was.

Good 6.0
The staff were friendly and the food was excellent, however the room was cold and very noisy in the morning (when we were trying to sleep) and I really didn't think Christmas music at breakfast was appropriate in mid November!

All good
Nice place to stay. the rooms are an annex at the back of the pub each with its own access (motel style). Not massive rooms but very clean and nice bathrooms. Big TV and good internet access so good for business travel. The pub itself is great with a good atmosphere and a mix of locals and visitors. Breakfast cooked to order and good and the evening meal also good. Nothing to dislike here … stand out staff and service makes a real difference here. A nice bunch of folks running the place.
