Beautiful chateau in beautiful surroundings. The chateau itself is being renovated and while I'm not precious about needing luxury, I had to strip down the put you up bed and put it together properly myself. No carpet on stairs. When we told the owner we needed to leave at 7:30, we were informed that breakfast wouldn't be possible as the boulangerie doesn't open until 8am! Why do you need a boulangerie for bacon and eggs or fruit? The house is beautiful and the owner very friendly. I just think the listing could be more honest about how far through the project they are.

Not like the photo
We expected a quirky B and B but this place lacked the ambiance we hoped for.The Chateau is located in a little village with nothing surrounding it and very hard to find. We had to drive 23 km to get dinner each night. The owners have been working to upgrade the chateau but it has a long way to go and they have restrictions due to historical status. The rooms are full of antiques, very nice, but there are basics that should be attended to at once. The staircase leading to the rooms is cracked and sloping with no carpet so you hear every creak as you walk around both in the hallway and in the rooms. The large mirrors are cracked and Smokey, the furniture needs recovering and bedding and towels need to be improved . The breakfast was ordinary. This place has great potential but for the price and location not worth it at the moment. We stayed 3 nights.

No compromise with modernity
If you enjoy staying in unspoilt country houses and appreciate all that goes with them, this place is for you. WiFi is the only concession to the modern world. Well positioned for visiting all the memorials to the Battle of the Somme and other Great War sites.

Difficult nice chateau but run down
Difficult to score the chateau, we had a great experience but found the chateau to be a bit run down with small beds, no shower, and the rooms were dark. It just needs a bit of a refresh. When we arrived the place looked deserted we had to ring to work out how to enter, Downs stairs was very dark quite cold, although the host was lovely, she recommended a local restaurant for dinner which was excellent. We came back to a welcome fire and a bottle of wine. Our room had a small double bed, no proper pillows and our daughters bed was like a day bed. Next morning we woke to a great breakfast and had a really nice chat with the host.

Fantastic experience. An old well-kept country chateaux run by very nice people. The atmosphere is more of a very very high-end B&B than a typical hotel. You are staying in someone's home, but what a home it is. Owners are super friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. It is kept in a required, but renovated, style from a previous era so do not expect modern amenities. We wished we had the time to stay longer, but it was for us a stop between destinations.

Step Back into the Past
We really enjoyed our stay at this outstanding Chateau. It was relatively easy to find and the drive through the grounds up to the Chateau itself made quite a positive impression. We were warmly greeted on our arrival then toured around the Chateau to learn not only of the facilities available to us but both the history of the Chateau and its restoration. Our room was large and well appointed, likewise the bathroom was quite spacious. I thought the period sink was quite cool. The view from the room was great looking out on the backyard and the field and woods beyond. The dining room had plenty of drinks and snack available. We were the only ones at the Chateau during our stay and because of schedule we had picnic suppers in the dining room. We had the breakfast each morning which were quite filling and a good way to start a long day of sightseeing. Due to our hectic schedule we never used the sitting rooms but if we had stayed longer and/or wanted some down time they were well appointed and comfortable. We also walked the grounds which was a nice way to unwind a bit after doing a fair bit of driving. There was a restaurant in the nearby village of Pas-en-Artois and further afield in Doullens. The location was perfect for visiting Amiens, Arras and Lens. Great location, outstanding service, comfortable and satisfying staying. We'll be back!

A wonderful place and great hospitality.
We stayed for two nights ( B and B ) in this delightful and very characterful chateau. Veronique, our host, was very welcoming and we were impressed by the history of the building and the wonderful restoration work that she and her husband have undertaken. Our room was beautiful and the breakfast delicious! If you wish to have dinner you need to let Veronique know well in advance - we went to Albert, about 12 miles away, to eat in the evenings as we had left it rather last minute but this was no trouble especially as Veronique very kindly rang and booked us a reservation. This is definitely a place for those who appreciate something a bit different. A perfect location for a peaceful stay and easy to get around to visit local places of interest.

The chateau was lovely as was the hostess. If you have an interest in history and architecture it is wonderful. Location is in the country, very nice and quiet though be prepared to drive a bit. As well, if arriving later in the evening, let them know early enough if you need dinner since stores close early and there are no restaurants in the immediate area. Wonderful breakfast, slept really well and no lack of hot water.

Unique Chateau de Couin
This is not like any hotel you have ever stayed in. The moment you close the big iron gates behind you, you are back in the days of the French Revolution,Napoleon, Louis XV & XVI, and two world wars all embedded into the fabric of this marvelous place. This historic monument is NOT a museum it is living and you are using the original furniture etc. in Veronique and her Husband's home. Let their love of what they do and their love of their home infuse you with something you will never forget.
