Social and clean hostel!
Mosaic Hostel was so much fun to stay at! I met some fellow travelers at the Saturday night get-together and ended up hanging out with them multiple times. The location is very near Kyoto Station and many bus stops. If you are wanting to be near the downtown area, this is not your place! The breakfast is great for $5 and I enjoyed borrowing some travel books and pamphlets from the front desk. The only downside that has been mentioned before is how HOT the capsules get at night. I was drenched in sweat in the mornings and showered regularly. The air is cool in the room, but once I put the curtain down for privacy, it was like a sauna every night. Otherwise, I loved my time at Mosaic Hostel!

Really great place
Really great. Lockers apart from the sleeping area. Bed quite comfy, great breakfast (500 yen), good atmosphere! And the laundry next to the rooftop, perfect time to rest an hour or two after a day of sightseeing 😀

Best VIBE / Meeting Area Downstairs
BEST VIBE and meeting area downstairs. Rooms are nice and very clean. Bathrooms as well. Nicely located. Best part is the downstairs bar area. You’ll meet people and can go sightseeing as a group. (I fell ill before arriving and the hostel was more than accommodating to meet my needs!) Laundry facility is convenient too!

Good hostel, horrible beds
Not all too long walk from the Kyoto Shinkhansen station, and the hostel was overall pretty neat and tidy. But, my matress was so worn down it was like sleeping on wood, my back hurt the day after and I’m a 23 yo male.

I would definitely stay at the Mosaic again. It's not too far from Kyoto station and is close to some attractions and a massive Eon shopping mall. The staff are very welcoming, friendly and helpful. There are also bikes you can hire if you don't want to walk or get public transport. The roof-top terrace is fab for evening drinks.

Very Trendy, Clean, and Fun Hostel
This is the best hostel in Kyoto for sure. It is very trendy and clean, with unique rooms and well maintained bathrooms on every floor. The staff were all young and fun people, making the stay very comfortable and very social if you want it to be. The rooms have great AC and thick walls so we never heard any noise when inside our room, and the deck on the rooftop was absolutely beautiful with good views of the downtown area. It is a very short, convenient walk from the train station to here and is definitely a place that you should stay at to save money and be close to transportation around the city!

Amazing hostel
The Mosaic was very clean and had great facilities for a hostel. The staff were very friendly and had a great level of English and they went out of their way to make my stay as pleasant as possible. They put on events in the bar and made sure it was a great place to meet fellow travellers so even if you are by yourself you can have a good night. The hostel is 5 minutes walk from Kyoto central station giving easy access to the whole city and beyond and there is a massive shopping centre with a great food court a short walk away. I would highly recommend staying here.

A No-Brainer Booking Over Here
Such a great, fun hostel! The lobby area has a bar with great selection of drinks and food. Always good music and interesting people coming in and out. The beds and their cubicles were perfectly sized and nice and sheltered so it was surprisingly quiet compared to most of my hostel experiences. Staff there was also amazing, very accommodating and kind. A lot of different cultures and people so you never know who you’ll meet. Also it’s vicinity to the train station makes for an easy affordable decision next time I’m in Kyoto.
