The pictures and description do not give justice to the beauty and peaceful atmosphere of this jewel. The staff and owner was so attentive The camel ride was fantastic and on their property with Mohammed The bed was super comfortable The decor was welcoming I wish we had more time there...
It’s glamping folks. Don’t expect 5 star luxury you are supposed to be roughing it. This was an amazing place. Hot as expected. Flies as expected. But amazing views and starry nights. The only reason I deducted a point from service is that it was not clear that meal pricing was for those visiting and not staying. That and the cash only policy on site gave us a bit of concern but at the end it was included. You do have data, it isn’t far enough out that mobile doesn’t work but in the end we were glamping and wanted to go off grid. Make sure you know Arafay is not the real desert. We were prepared and not disappointed but it ain’t the Sahara!
We stayed here for 1 night and wished we would have booked a second. The experience was a favorite of our time in Marrakech. The grounds are beautiful and the staff was so friendly. The livestock are treated well and the food is grown organically on property. It really is a very special place and we hope to return in the future.
This place is incredible. Spectacular views of the High Atlas Mountains, in March, the desert was in bloom. Beautiful. It was a delightful end-note to twelve days touring Morocco and a nice counterpoint to busy chaotic Marrakech. The food is consistently great in Morocco, but I had by far the best meals of my trip here. The rooms are technically tents, but as comfortable as any hotel room, with a full bathroom en suite. Tour companies run day trips from Morocco here for camel rides,,hikes in the desert, dinner, etc., but that did not interfere with the quiet solitude of the place. Really, just a wonderful experience. They offer lots of activities, but there are easy walking paths leading in all directions and I was very content to explore the desert on foot—coming across a young boy tending a herd of camels, seeing Berber villages in the distance, and enjoying the beauty of the place.
the camp is really cute, very charming, and nicely kept. I wish there had been more selection for food. It was just basic tagines and not much choice. Also, we took a camel ride and I felt sad for the camels; their caretaker was whipping their legs and handling them in a rough way. They were tied too close together for their comfort and it just didn't seem that the caretaker had a lot of love or respect for them.
