Hotel was great, staff even better. Robin was great to talk to and MaryBeth went above all expectations. Our shuttle to the airport was taking longer then expected and when it did finally come, she called the aiport to let them know we were in route and not to cancel our tickets or leave without us. She also had great food recommendations in Isabel and helped us arrange the shuttles to the car rental and airport. The hotel has everything you need for a beach day--coolers, chairs, towels and umbrella. It is also within walking distance to all the restaurants and bars in Esperanza. If we're ever back, we'd stay here in a heartbeat.
Malecon House is such a wonderful boutique hotel within walking distance of all the bars and restaurants. The amenities of a filtered water station, honor bar and snacks, beach chairs, umbrellas, coolers, snorkel gear and ice machines are such a wonderful touch and make exploring all the beautiful beaches so easy!! The people are very helpful as well and the beds super comfy. We will definitely be staying here the next time we visit Vieques!
Great boutique hotel with very helpful and friendly staff, delicious continental breakfast, beautiful view of the ocean, comfy bed, and very nice amenities.
Great staff. Friendly and able to provide thoughtful recommendations. Property has a wonderful location within walking distance of great restaurants, beaches, tour companies, etc. along the main drag of Esperanza. Wonderful sunset views across the street overlooking the bay. Lovely continental breakfast on the patio each morning. Because it's on the town's main waterfront road, there can be noise on the weekends (a few locals have really invested in their car stereos), but you'll have that same thing at any property in Esperanza.
Fantastic and clean and sweet staff
Malecon House is very dreamy. The staff goes above and beyond, truly, and they provide pretty much everything you need or could conjure up as a need to make your stay as relaxing as possible. In regards to there also being an earthquake... they provided clear and up to date info and assisted all guests in feeling comfortable. I would definitely stay there again if I get the chance. Thank you guys for a delightful experience!
For the amount they charge, it was quite a huge disappointment. 1. WiFi is there but works only in the lobby. 2. We were told keep the tap turned on for a minute or two for warm warm water as they have solar heaters. Never did. Electricity and water supply are still issues on the island and I chose this expensive place as the place promised to have those two. 3. Mosquitoes in the room especially they keep.buzzing at night. Luckily had a repellent. 4. Door knobs to room and bathroom broken as in couldn't be locked. Fortunately place is located in a safe neighborhood and we stayed just for a night so didn't bother to complain. 5. They had a microwave but even that was not functioning. Cold coffee was served and I requested a quick reheat but even that failed. The staff is willing to help but if equipment is broken, there is not much they can do. Just two things were good. Location is very convenient for the biobay tours and eateries. Carmen and Marybeth - staff members - were good. But they don't own the place and the place needs to be maintained if malecon wishes to remain 4-5 star rating hotel. I would not recommend the place. Not worth it.
Malecon House was amazing. By far the best lodging on Vieques. We wouldn't stay anywhere else if we returned again. The room was spotless, staff friendly, amenities were great - pool, breakfast, beach chairs, towels, boogie boards, etc. The walls are pretty thin so be prepared to hear the coqui frogs and roosters but you will deal with this anywhere on Vieques. It's part of the experience. The location was perfect - right in the center of Esperanza. My negative review is solely for Hotels.com. This listing is misleading. There is one photo of the standard queen room on this whole listing. The photo of my booking is of the suite with ocean view therefore I thought this was what I booked. I was incredibly disappointed when I got to the hotel and our room was an interior room with no balcony or ocean view. Be careful what you book....
Great location, beautiful room and facilities and the staff could not have been nicer. Prices were a little high but the experience was great.
Pros: location is great; right next to restaurants and bars. The hotel provides beach chairs, snorkels, umbrellas, sunscreen and bug spray for share which is awesome. Cons: the wifi is very very slow plus the cellular service is minimal (for mt at&t) so be prepared to be disconnected.
