good location, friendly people
Great location and fantastic, friendly staff. Front desk person was especially helpful and friendly. If you have any issues w temperature make sure you have the remote for the heater/ac unit. It should be on the wall. If it’s missing (like mine was) you can simply call the front desk and they will send someone w a new one. I only mention it because of the other review about temperature. The room decor is a bit odd (like heavy Lodge-bohemian overlaid on a basic hotel room) but this is not a place you stay for in-room decor. Nice bar downstairs (and all around) and donuts next door. My only complaint was that my specific room looked out at an industrial fan area and then directly across at some poor guy clearly doing a covid work from home setup against his own window. This meant that I had to keep the curtains shut. Since they are blackout curtains it left the room a bit dark. So my one suggestion would be to add a semi sheer under curtain or peel and stick window film to the rooms that look across at other apartments. Again, not spending a ton of time in the room but the extra light is nice at times.

Almost perfect!
Loved the artsy-ness of the hotel. Everyone was super friendly and the location was perfect. The shower size left a little to be desired.

Pandemic Experience – But I'd Like Some Water?
*This experience occurred soon after Chicago reopened from Covid-19* My husband and I got a King room for his bday. We live in Chicago so this was just for a stay-cation fun weekend downtown. 1. The TV had no remote – so basically unusable. 2. The room was small enough to be a college dorm room. 3. There were no water bottles or glasses to get water in the room. We had to drink water from the bathroom sink. When I called the front desk to ask for bottles or glasses, they said they would bring them up – and never did. When I called again the next morning to ask again – they said "water is located in the lobby". I wanted to say "I'm naked in my room and it's 8 AM". Then we drank water from the bathroom sink. Overall, we basically felt like we were camping and the photos of this place are not at all what the actual experience was like.

Nice, but crowded
Very good stay. Would be crowded if there were 4 people in the room.

Great hotel in an excellent location. Not very well suited to being considered a hostel any more as most amenities have been removed, except the shared rooms and pricey laundry service. The downstairs lounge area where you could socialise turns into a bar in the evening which doesn’t allow under 21’s in, limiting any chance at interaction or making friends. Other than that rooms are comfortable and privacy is good. Staff are lovely.

Poor 2.0
So bad
It was so noisy outside and no tab. The reservation system was so complicated and booked wrong options such as share the room with guys. I had to pay more for upgrades. additionally I had to pay $56 for parking! The hotel should indicate that information at the reservation site!

Just ok
The quad room and bathroom was very tight as expected, it was comfortable though if you are only staying for a short period of time and don’t have high expectations. Place smells musty. The front desk was not accommodating when our keys stopped working. They would not let us get new keys without the persons ID who booked even though we had the reservation details and room number. The best part was the location.
