Aolani Hale - Volcano
Nice place close to the park
The house has two bedrooms and two bathroom so it was perfect for two couples. There is a well appointed kitchen and a comfortable living room. The place is clean and the beds are comfortable. The surrounding area is residential with lots of greenery. We enjoyed a walk in the neighborhood. The house is just a few miles from the Volcano National Park. It is a perfect place from which to go to the park to see the volcano crater and hike in the area. There is a small grocery store in Volcano, but you are better off picking up groceries in Hilo (about 45 minute drive) if that is where your plane arrived. Dining places are very limited. We ended up eating one dinner in a restaurant in the park (pretty pricey, but great views of the crater if it is not raining or foggy). Our other meals were made at the house. If might be a bit difficult to find the house in the dark, so try to get there during the day, if you can.

Beautiful home within nature
Aoloni Hale is an incredible vacation rental. This 2 bedroom, 1 3/4 bath home seems pretty new and has a well equipped kitchen and comfortable living room. The home is set back from the road on a spacious property near the Kahaualea Natural Area Reserve such that you don't even see the road. Covered parking behind the home provides a place to park your car to keep it out of the dew on cool mornings. The local area is superb for natural parks. Very close to Volcano National Park and the homeowner has preserved the natural vegetation just like the nearby Area Reserve. At just over 3400 feet altitude, this area can be pretty cool in the mornings. The one downside to this home is that the only heat source we found in it (short of the gas range) was the small gas fireplace. It takes quite some time to warm up the home--especially the bedrooms--and you pretty much need to leave the fireplace on with it's noisy fan to keep warm. Be sure to pick up groceries in Kona or Hilo: Selection at the local mart is slim and very high-priced. Overall, this place is wonderful for relaxation and room size. Beds were much more comfortable once I re-placed the middle supports which had fallen out. I was surprised at the amount of long, dark hair we found all over the house, but it wasn't so much as to be disgusting. We would happily stay here again!

Rain Forest
The first night was cold and rainy (in Hawaii, who knew). After that, sunny and warm. And, so quiet.

Great house close to Volcano Village and Park!
This place was fantastic! Barely a 2 min drive to the park entrance. Was great place for our family of 4 but would be ideal for 2 couples as each bedroom has a bathroom. We only stayed one night but if you are looking to spend several days on/in/around the volcano, this is a great home base!
