Hot and noisy
The hotel is unique and has some really good period features. The room we stayed in was too hot in the night and noises could be heard from 4:30am which sounded like creaking doors then at 06:00am scaffolders arrived and our room was just like being in the middle of a building site. After 20 minutes we checked out and went home, it was unbearable

Nice Hotel.
Nice hotel, friendly staff. However more signage is needed for finding the hotel. Overall the room was lovely ,however general upkeep is needed (damp patches, peeling wall paper).

Disappointing for the expensive price. We stayed in room 2 and had possibly the worst night sleep I’ve ever had in a hotel. You are right under the reception and can hear everyone’s footsteps and cases going in and out. I woke up every hour or so due to huge bangs from the reception desk and what sounded like moving furniture. I checked and this was at 4am so it was whoever was doing the night shift. The staff toilet was right next to room 2 so I kept hearing that staff member going to the toilet. I understand it’s an old building and may not be sound proofed but knowing you have guests beneath you and making noise all night is disrespectful. Glass bottles were also being emptied at midnight so it was hard even trying to get to sleep to begin with. Hotel is in a good location and you get Molton Brown toiletries but that’s as positive as it gets to justify the price. Dust on skirting boards and carpets, dark and gloomy room, hard mattress, general deco outdated, no sound proofing, no offer of a room upgrade/feee drinks with my Expedia gold status, room 2 was cold. The price does just not make sense for the lack of facilities and noise you have to put up with. Was looking forward to this but walked away disappointed. Wouldn’t recommend as you could stay somewhere cheaper which would be a lot nicer.

AWFUL - AVOID!!!!! Hotel in a bin store!!!
Really dispoainted with this. Photos of rooms online incredibly misleading. You are essentially staying in commercial bin alley. The hotel was covered in scaffold which we were not told about. Booked as we are Hotel.com gold members and this is 'apparently' a member VIP hotel.... literally no perks at all were given or even achloweled. No early check in or late chec out. Staff were 'curt' at best over email prior to our arrival. Stuffyed into the smallest room I have ever staying in a hotel in the basement!!!! Worken both nights by restaurants and bars next door filling thier bins next to our room! Laundry carridges which were full left in courtyard all weekend. Iron marked my boyfirneds shirt prior to going out for a meal. Guard from hairdryer missing and caused my boyfriend to have to rip my hair free from the hairdryer!!! Bed disgusting and marked from previous occupants. Carpets dirty and freying. Bathroom air freshener empty. Broken tiles in bathroom Marks on walls. Champagne ordered to the room prior to arrival... wasn't in room when we arrived. Staff sat behind reception on phones etc not bothered about residents. NO DAILY ROOM SERVICING!! Not told about in advance!!! Looking for a short city break in what appeared to be a romantic boutique hotel GO ELSEWHERE this was awful!!! Should have hotels.com gold status removed! Massively miss sold this hotel. You are basically staying in the bin store / smoking area for the local shops and restaurants!
