Profile: Ueno

Profile: Ueno

Quaint gardens in Ueno set this pristine area apart from the city’s surrounding districts. Here, you’ll step onto lush greens, be inspired by abundant cherry blossoms, and gaze over reflective pools shimmering in the sunlight. Learn about Japanese history too, at the massive Tokyo National Museum holding nearly 100,000 exhibits.

Cheap eats abound in this northern district, where you can nosh on a budget snack plate while visiting the packed Ameyoko street market. The stalls here spill with souvenirs, but you can find higher-end merchandise at the oldest discounter in Tokyo, known as Takeya.

    Money minded hotel

As there wasn't any triple room in this hotel so I booked the twin bed room. Upon check in, I requested to let my daughter to stay tigerher with us in the same room as she is not feeling well. The hotel refused and keep on saying they do not allow more than 2 persons and even told us to book 1 more room. Only more than half an hour arguing then they relented but I have to pay 24000 yen for 4 nights to let my girl stay in the same room. This is by far the worst hotel that I have travelled around the world. Just want to get more money from traveller. Will never ever stay there again!

    Trr experience

Very poor experience. Visited Japan for almost 20 times, this hotel room is super mini in size. Could place a small size luggage adjacent to the door while another luggage could only place in front of the toilet, washbasin and refrigerator. However, if I wash my face or open the refrigerator, I had to close the luggage and move it. No chair is provided, so my backpack had to place on the bed the whole night. The bed mattress was too soft, bedsheet was not so clean.

    Would absolutely return

Good location within walking station of Ueno Station, had 2 convenience stores (Lawsons and 7 eleven) across the street and a multitude of restaurants ranging from Wagyu to Udon within a few blocks. Room was kinda cramped, the space under the bed hasn't been cleaned in who knows how long and there was some mild grime in the shower corners. I literally dont give a hoot about any of those things considering I got a queen bed in an awesome location for a super affordable price. Would absolutely stay again and recommend to others. P.S. Breakfast is like rice, porridge and breads, not worth the $8 instead go have a noodle/rice bowl a few blocks down or get something at the convenience store.
