Great stay at Grand Bach Hotel!
Room was a little squeezy as with all Japan hotels. Shower area was a treat with sprinklers of water to massage your body. Happen to have a room on the same floor as the onsen which was convenient. Hotel concierge, Ms Kodamo, Concierge Manager was really helpful. She provided precise information on train services and recommended the optional sake brewery visit for us which was enjoyable and educational.

Exploring Kyoto
Conveniently located in heart of town, minuted away from subway/bus stations, on a quiet lane along the main road. Spacious and clean hotel room. Comfortable bed and pillows.

Western breakfast is not western
Average stay in the end. Biggest gripe was hotel advertises it has a 'western breakfast' option, which we chose and pay for, which helped us pick this hotel. In the end it wasn't western at all, and I could not recognise a thing on it except for some yoghurt. Fine if you want that, but please don't call it western. The wifi also constantly dropped out, and in the end we had to go to a starbucks to use theirs. Oh, and I didn't realise this place was called 'Bach' because it actually created its own weird bach theme for the hotel. So there is constantly bach classical music playing outside your room in the hall, which is not only odd, but after a while it really gets to you. If wifi or a western breakfast is important to you, I'd steer clear.
