We did not stay at the property. We were refused by the hotel and informed that the hotel association of Sri Lanka had a new regulation of not letting tourists from China, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Thailand stayed at the property. However, they were not able to informed us earlier since Expedia doesn’t show nationality at the booking. We were stopped at the front by the security whom did not even let us stepped into the hotel. After the local driver had a talk with a hotel manager and couldn’t settle. We walked in to have a conversation but the hotel manger treated us as if they were disgusted. We were later informed that this regulation was not an official regulation by the government. It was a hassle to have to find a hotel last minute as then location is full with tourists and a lot of hotels were all booked. Despite the fact that it was already charged our credit card, the hotel refuse to take responsibility and stated that we had to inform Expedia and canceled the booking in order to get the refund.
