Not what it says on the Tin!!
This is the first review I have felt needed to be made regarding my stays using Hotels.com. This of course isn't the error of Hotels.com. However, I feel it necessary to highlight that this hotel does not have a bar, restaurant, breakfast facilities or good standard sized rooms, which are stated in the script. The room itself was extremely uncomfortable, the bathroom was the size of a tiny garden shed and had several lights not working. To my amusement, at nearly 5pm whilst checking in, the room cleaners were still cleaning rooms and I had to be moved to a nearby room due to this. There is also no lift to accommodate a 3 storey building for people with luggage. This wasn't an issue for me but disabled people and children would find the stairs extremely difficult. Luckily, I only had to stay for one night as my second work day wasn't required so I could leave early. Overall, not a very pleasant stay.

Fine for a night, wouldn't want to stay any longer
Hotel was alright, took ages and several phone calls by the man on the desk to check in (I think they messed up our booking). Hotel was nice but the mattress in the room was either broken or very very cheap as it had two large dips each side where people had slept before, so was very uncomfortable. TV was also mounted too high on the wall so you would have to be standing to see it clearly.apart from that all was good, the mattress just really let the place down!

Please avoid!
We arrived early at the hotel and were able to leave bags and fill in the registration forms, great, hotel looked nice. We arrived back later to obtain our room only to be told they had electric problems and no rooms available. After a 15 min wait we were told a hotel over the park could accommodate us however I would need to claim my money back from hotels.com and pay the other hotel more than I had initially paid. I refused flatly and another 15 mins passed before an agreement between the two hotels was reached between the two of them regarding payment. We were took to the other hotel which really did not look nice at all the reception was made of hard board and had more of a very low budget hostel image. Due to the time and traveling with my young son I accepted the room. I was advised by this hotel that this happens all the time and that the Melville constantly over book rooms and use them in these circumstances. Do yourself a favour, there are cheap hostels in kings cross which are far nicer than what we were given at a far Lowe cost. Very disapointed with the whole experience. I certainly didn't get the accomodation I purchased through hotels.com.

Basement room, shady clerk, no A/C
I didn't stay. I prepaid on Hotels.com when my train was canceled and walked over with my daughter to be horrified by the sketchy hotel I paid over $100 for (non-refundable). I determined it wasn't safe enough for two women traveling alone and left for another hotel. I am out of pocket for the money but my daughters safety is paramount.
