About Palais Hansen Kempinski Vienna - Vienna

5-star hotel with restaurants and spa in 19th-century palace

St. Stephen's: 15 minutes

Palais Hansen Kempinski Vienna is on the Ring boulevard, which circles the old city, a 15 minute-walk from St. Stephen's Cathedral. Trams connect you to the Burgtheater, State Opera, Imperial Palace, and other sights on the Ring, and the main train station is a 10-minute drive.

2 stops to the Riesenrad

Riesenrad, the giant Ferris wheel famously featured in "The Third Man," is a great spot to get your bearings, and is 2 metro stops from Schottenring Station, 2 blocks away. The metro will also get you to the Schönbrunn palace and gardens, the Habsburg emperors' summer residence.

Spa and 2 restaurants

A lavish breakfast is available until 2 PM on weekends, and you can head to The Spa for a massage, sauna, or dip in the pool. The fitness is open 24 hours, and a cognac in the Cigar Lounge, Austrian cuisine at Die Küche, or upscale dining at Edvard round off the day perfectly.

Viennese style, free WiFi

152 rooms and suites mix Viennese tradition and contemporary style, with dark wood paneling and marble bathrooms. WiFi is free, and the in-room tablet computer lets you book a spa treatment, order from 24-hour room service, or connect your device to the entertainment system.

Oh Vienna
Hotel was impressive. Clean, large rooms and good position. Staff friendly and professional. Bed was too hard for me and I wasn’t a fan of the thin feather and air filled pillows.

Kempinski failed our family for the last time.
On the plus side, it is a beautiful building in an excellent location, with well-appointed rooms, and great bathrooms. However, the staff make this hotel a very poor value. I never was offered my VIP perk. The phone batteries were not controlled, so their alarms went-off in the middle of the night. I wrote some correspondence and instead of normal envelopes, they had billing sleeves (complete with windows). When I asked to mail the letter, the concierge scrutinized the addressee, smirked, and tried to warn-me-off by stating it would not be picked-up until tomorrow and it would cost a whole 2€. At check-out, the person at the check-out desk, strangely with crossed-keys on the lapel, refused to provide me with a receipt from my stay. When asked to hold a package for a friend, more idiotic faces were made, followed by back talk, and a series of questions. Fortunately, the questions seemed to satisfy this person of great important and he grudgingly agreed to hold the package for the intended recipient for a few hours. Shortly, the facilities are five-star, but the staff are poorly trained and improperly supervised.
