Sakura Hostel Asakusa - Tokyo
Great location and that’s about it.
Not your typical clean Japanese hostel. Maybe you’re spoilt in Japan with hostels but this isn’t one of them. Stayed as it had good reviews and in a good area but very disappointed with the dorm rooms. Very old creeky beds and too many people in a room. The bathrooms were tiny and freezing in the winter, also not very clean. Common area was dirty (could use a new couch or two) Great location right next to the temple, safe to walk around and lots of food choices. Staff were helpful. Atmosphere was ok, but very old and cold building in winter. Lots of better choices out there for the same price or less (which I moved to) Wouldnt stay again.

The only bad thing is the people iv been in dorm with, but that wasnt the hostle's fault. The staff is very friendly, and it is very down to earth! Iv stayed 6 weeks so far, still happy with it! + Asakusa is a really nice place.

Not good for the money
Just a bare bone dorm bed, no place to hang clothes, long walk to shared bath room. Bedsheet is provided but self service, must bring back bedsheet upon checkout. Breakfast only limited to toast and coffee. No towels......

The hostel actually has a good kitchen that guests can use. This is a very good feature that should be highlighted. Most of the hostel is carpeted, which is hard to keep clean. The dark colour of the carpet doesn't hide it. If I measure this hostel on an international sacale of cleanliness, it is not bad, but on a Japanese scale, it is definitely below average. Management should think about how to improve this aspect of the hostel.

It was okay but I don't know what the hype is all about. A good walk to the subway, and asakusa is not super central. Breakfast is very basic, toast and jam. I've been to better ones in Tokyo.
