Our stay at the Hotel Gravensteen

Had a great time on a family weekend break. Parking a big bonus and a free room upgrade on arrival with a fantastic view of the castle of the counts. Staff friendly and helpful. Was a cold weekend but the heating was excellent. Absolutely nothing to complain about, we will return.

An Ideal hotel if you are wanting to stay in the heart of Ghent. Our one night stay for the Christmas markets was very pleasant.

Excellent facility in a historic area, and convenient to the "old Town" area as well as the Castle.

    Noisy area

The hotel is situated next to several bars and restaurants that stay open late- we could hear customers well after midnight, and deliveries began before 7am. Construction is occurring on a rail line outside the hotel, seems this will take some time to complete. Some rooms are without a/c, but many windows don't have screens on them, allows mosquitoes in. Very nice European breakfast, helpful front desk staff who moved us to a new room to try to find some quiet (not much better)

This property is in a fantastic location. The breakfast room was charming and the selection of food and drink was quite large. There was street construction so we were put in an annex building, which the manager said would be quieter. There was an air conditioner. The room was large and clean and comfortable but furniture was a bit dated. However, the shower was fabulous, plenty of hot water and adjustable shower head. The bar is a tiny room off reception and selection of liquors is a bit limited but good wines and beer. All in all, we enjoyed our stay.

Great location and lovely hotel but worth knowing a few things from our stay. There’s no air con, and during our stay when it was 25-26 degrees, the room was borderline too hot. There were also some very narrow and steep stairs to our room, which were only manageable to those steady on their feet and difficult with luggage even so. Apart from those two points, it was a perfectly pleasant place for 3 nights

The location is the best thing about this hotel. Right in the centre of Ghent. Our room was a good size, but I did pay for an executive room. I did request a Castle View which I had confirmed by e mail prior to arrival, however we did not get one and as the hotel was full we couldn't be moved. Minor issue really, but the hotel should not promise something they can't deliver. The carpet throughout the public areas of the hotel needs replacing. It gives a bad impression when you first go in, which is a shame as this is a lovely hotel.

Location is awesome, great checkin. Lovely old building but watch out for small beds, steep stairs, small rooms and no air, as it is a great couple of historic buildings. Ask if you have questions. Great modern bathroom
