If you are on a budget this place will suffice. There is no AC and the windows don’t open a lot so I would not recommend it during the warmer months. Cleanliness was just ok. One of the towels in the bathroom looked like it was stained with blood. Bed sheets were clean though. The location was decent. It is right above a bar but it actually wasn’t loud in the evening. Walking distance to many restaurants and pubs. Overall I would stay there again as long as it was a cooler months.

The hotel is well located & has pleasant facilities. However as seniors would not recomend it. Rooms are upstairs with m ultiple narrow staircases which as an 80 plus senior made access arduous If I were a 30/40 something I would heartily recomend it Cost & location are excellent. Oxford st. With great restos & bars is less than a minutes walk.

Affordable option to stay central, parking is on the street pay and display. It was easy to access with instructions given, no reception available but worked ok. Not ideal if the weather is hot as no aircon and the building gets very hot inside. For some reason, i was confused as I thought this was around the Marina but not at all. In summary, no frills and works for a quick central stay.

It's a self service check-in though if you phone for help they answer quickly. Makes it decent value, carpark opposite is £9 for 10 hours and free midnight to 8am, check in 3pm 10hr parking gets you to 9am the next day, use the machine and pay by card not the app Good area for bars and restaurants Bed ok clean but not the best, basic overnight stay

There is a car park opposite the hotel. It’s close to all amenities. The room was very spacious and the bed was so comfortable that we wanted to ring in sick for work 😄We could have stayed in it all day . It was such a lovely hotel. We will be using it again in the future .

Only downside was the check in procedure which didn't seem to work when I attempted to it. However, door code sent and access duly gained. Nice comfy room. DO NOT STAY HERE! The photos of the property do NOT depict the actual place. We stayed in room 5, there was no air conditioning, which we knew ahead of time, but there was also nothing to allow fresh air into the room. One window near the ceiling and a small fan did not cut it, the room was as warm as a sauna! The bed was not comfortable, some of the room fixtures, like towel bars, were barely holding on to the wall. On a positive note, the room did not smell, surprisingly enough. Also, there was good water pressure in the shower and the water was hot, not that I used that since the room was already steamy. The location is above a bar, which for us turned out to be okay, we heard no loud partying or music through the tiny open window in our little oven. I did attempt to contact the property owner early in the evening of our one night disaster, but heard only crickets. Be diligent, read reviews and choose wisely. Personally, I will spend a bit extra next time to ensure a better experience. On a side note and something else to consider, I was lucky enough to sleep next to my naked beautiful wife, but wasn’t allowed to even lay a hand on her sweltering skin!

Extremely disappointed in the condition of this property compared to the photographs on the site . Carpets and condition of property leading to the room were disgusting. Room itself was so run down and very small . Furniture was in bad condition with chip marks everywhere. We seemed to be in an attic room ...thankfully we were supplied with a fan . On a positive note the bed was clean .

Note: we stayed during the hottest June on record so some of that will cloud our experience Positives: freshly redecorated and clean room with comfortable bedding, close to Oxford street for restaurants and to the cruise terminals, wi-fi worked fine Negatives: - absolutely no air movement in the building. The hotel’s directory noted the historical nature of the building and why they cannot have air conditioning. However, no windows were opened in the building and the fan provided in the room was inadequate for any air movement. - lack of accessibility. The listing online does not make clear that not only are there no lifts, the stairways are numerous and NARROW. We struggled with getting our luggage up to the room. Again, there was a note in the hotel directory addressing this as being due to the historical nature of the building. - lack of onsite staff or easy way to contact staff. We arrived early and paid £10 to store our luggage. We were given a front door code prior to check in that did not work. We were left on the sidewalk struggling and, not having an international calling plan, could not call the only number provided. Multiple messages sent to the hotel via the app went unanswered. Thankfully a cleaning lady let us in and gave us a working door code. - speaking of luggage…their luggage storage system was literally “go ahead and leave the bags in the narrow ground floor vestibule hallway” -

The Hotel is positioned in a good location for food and drink. The road is quite busy and you will get noise despite double glazing. The bedroom has been decorated well and small but everything you need. I would suggest that wedges or a pole is provided for the sash window and two of each size towel. If we where coming to an event in Southampton again would stay here. Reasonable price and clean. Thank you
