BEDBUGS - RUN AWAY!
Awful. While I anticipated a hostel experience (and have stayed in many) and as a result, I wasn't expecting anything more than a clean bed and a shared bathroom, I was not expecting to walk into an otherwise clean room (Room #40) that smelled of chlorine bleach (didn't mind that) to find BEDBUGS crawling all over the bed and walls. While the person at the front desk reimbursed my second night and told me the reimbursement for the first was being processed, it has taken a long time to get back the fee from the first. -- I checked in at 10pm went out until about 10:45 and by 11 I was in the lobby requesting my money back and informing the management that I would not be staying.... AVOID THIS ESTABLISHMENT

This is a hostel, not a hotel.
The Bowery House is what you'd expect of a hostel. A tiny, TINY room and a shared bathroom. Overall I was satisfied The Bowery House. It was clean and modern. If you're expecting a everyday hotel stay then this is NOT the place for you. Since I wasn't planing on spending much time in my room then this place was good for my stay. If I had one complaint about my stay was that my bed was a tad bit too small for me. I'm 5'8" and if I laid down straight I could touch both the wall at the foot of my bed and the opposite wall with my head. No one sleeps that way so it wasn't a problem for me once I got comfortable and curled up. I noticed taller people there so I'm assuming they probably got bigger rooms. I'm not sure though. Another thing to keep in mind is that these rooms are private with open ceilings which means that you could hear the guy next to you snoring. It didn't bother me much since they give you ear plugs once you check in. This was a a last minute booking for me. Would I stay here again??? Maybe. If it was a last minute thing. I kind of like the privacy of my own restroom so next time I might save up and get a private room somewhere else. If this doesn't bother you then this place will do just fine. Keep in mind that if I would of booked at a regular hotel in NYC it probably would of cost me three times as much.

Lied to me
The place was dimly lead and very run down. When I found out that this is a hostel, not a hotel, I asked if I could have a refund. The guy who worked at the front desk said he didn't know , so I would have to wait till the supervisor comes in, in 45 minutes. I patiently waited an hour to speak to the supervisor. She said that she would only charge me one night if I decide to leave without staying. About an hour later, I came back to tell her that I was leaving, because I found a hotel. Should charge me two nights, and when I asked about the one night deal she was giving me, she denied ever telling me that, and said that she had to charge me 2 nights. I understand that it's their policy to charge tonight if the cancellation is not done in advance. But I'm very unhappy I was lied to.
