1) we found the hotel to be too far from Kyoto where we wanted to be everyday
2) we found the room to be disappointingly dirty with unusual amount of dust around the carpet moulding and corners and behind doors. The hotel was outdated and the furniture looked very old with many scars and dents from previous travelers.
3) we had to take an extra train which costs us additional fees to get to Kyoto everyday plus their shuttle to that train was only hourly
or you had to pay for a taxi
Next time we will stay directly in Kyoto

I was so incredibly disappointed by this hotel. The photos online must have been from when the hotel first opened. Currently it feels a bit like The Shining when you check in. Not sure if it was way off season but felt like we were the only people staying at the giant hotel and staff was just making repairs. Pool was drained which was one of the reasons we chose the hotel in the first place which isn’t indicated on Expedia. My room was non-smoking but smelled of smoke. The furnishings in the room were from the 1970’s and the walls were damaged. We decided to try the restaurant for good measure and they were all out of the first things we tried to order. Finally we went down to complain about all of these things and the hotel manager was incredibly unhelpful and didn’t take our complaints seriously. We wound up leaving the hotel without a refund. Overall this was a bad experience. I can’t recommend this place less! Buyer beware!

Decent room bit of a distance from everything.
Decent location. Bit of a distance from everywhere so unless you have a car it might be a bit of a difficult time navigating. Extremely upset that the hotel makes no attempt to advise you of pricing for cleaning your clothes. Be warned. Cost 4000 yen to have 2 pairs of jeans 3 shirts and 2 socks cleaned. Questioned it but was shrugged off by staff. Room was huge and really comfy however. Won’t be staying again due to staff uncooperative with washing querie.

Comfortable stay, but overpriced meals
We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Our room was very spacious and comfortable, and the staff were friendly. However, we thought that both the restaurants and the breakfast were overpriced considering the location and the hotel style.
