Centrotel - Athens
Good hotel and value for money .
Location was a bit intimidating on first day but eventually we accustomed to the area. It is nearer from Victoria railway. Only note that there is no ramp from the sidewalk to the hotel lobby so ppl in wheelchair and babies in strollers need to be carried up manually.

neighborhood filled with immigrants..
The area felt like a lot of immigrants reside there, we took a metro from the nearby station to monostiraki(2 stops away) and my phone got stolen in the metro! Spoke to the security person/ station in-charge and also the ticket counter lady and they were not surprised. one of them told us "it happens everyday every hour, there is a group of professional of xyz nationality thieves who are very skilled". We took cabs(only uber, else very expensive cab rides) The hotel is great but I would choose it only if you want to use cabs for commuting in the city.

Unsafe Area
The are that the hotel was in, Victoria, seemed really unsafe and made us feel uncomfortable so we only ended up staying one night. The bed was awful to sleep on as well. The hotel is pretty and clean but we didn’t feel safe so had to leave.

Great hotel could be better location.
The hotel is very decent and the exterior is amazing. The hotel has also been kept up with fairly well and everything functioned well. That said. The location isn’t that good. The immediate neighborhood isn’t that bad. Lower middle class I would say. But to get to the acropolis is a decent 30 minutes walk through VERY BAD NEIGHBORHOODS. I’ve been to 50 countries and it’s one of the worst walks I’ve had anywhere and almost threw up on one street from the smells while on another a gang of six plus men ogled my wife while we walked and began to follow us for half a block until I half turned around let them know I wasn’t playing around. After this walk we always took a taxi. It’s 3.50-5.50 euro for the taxi depending on traffic and if it’s at night. One walk that is safe is to the National museum which is only a few minutes away and is amazing. The room was extremely decent. Spacious and everything that you need. It is for sure a two star but a nice two star. The bed was very firm and I didn’t care for the pillow so I called for more and almost instantly there was a knock at the door with three fantastic top notch pillows. Highlights, The staff is very helpful and kind. There is free printing. There are tiny lights above the bed at night that change colors and look like stars. Would I stay here again? Absolutely. Just be ready to take a cab to the main attractions.
